Aims and Scope
Global Challenges is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary open access journal that publishes original research articles, reviews, and commentaries aimed at providing practical solutions to a broad spectrum of current global challenges, for example:
• Sustainability • Climate change and environmental protection • Energy generation, storage, and distribution • Food and water safety and provision • Global health and healthcare • Technological development
Contributions from chemistry, physics, engineering, materials science, the life sciences, medicine, healthcare, technology, and the social sciences are welcome. Work that makes important technologies cheaper, more efficient, and more accessible are welcome. Original research papers must report well-conducted research with conclusions supported by the data presented in the paper.
Examples or suitable topics would include:
Sustainability: Recycling technologies, catalysis, renewable processes, green technologies, green chemistry, biotechnology, smart monitoring, waste management, …
Climate change and environmental protection: New membrane technologies for pollution remediation, methods and materials for reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, sensors for detecting pollutants, photocatalysis, …
Energy generation, conversion, storage, and distribution: Solar energy, batteries, (super)capacitors, conductors, fuel cells, turbine technology, water splitting, biofuels, …
Food and water security/safety and provision: Water collection, purification techniques, toxin sensors, hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces, food provision and agriculture, forest management, combating desertification, …
Global health and healthcare: Drug development and delivery, theranostics, therapeutics, cancer research, tissue engineering, implants, biotechnology, biophysics, clinical applications, personalized medicine, …
Technological development: Electronics, lasers and photonics, optics, 2D materials, nanotechnology, microtechnology, device technology, 3D printing, imaging, coatings, …
Global Challenges has a 2020 Impact Factor of 3.847 (Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics, 2021)).
