Average time to first decision: 30 days
Editorial objective
The journal aims to give a broad international coverage of subjects relating to the management of manufacturing technology and the integration of the design, production, marketing and supply functions of enterprises. Emphasis is placed on the publication of articles which seek to link theory with practical application or critically analyse real cases with the objective of identifying good practice in manufacturing. Papers accepted for publication are double-blind refereed to ensure academic rigour and integrity. For a full list of the journal's review board, please see below. On average, most papers receive a first decision within 30 days upon submission. And on average, reviews are completed within 60 days.
Editorial criteria
Articles may be based on empirical investigations, theoretical perspectives, case study analysis, or report experimental results. However, all submissions should:
- make a significant original contribution to the field;
- be directly relevant to the management of manufacturing technology;
- contain elements which have general application;
- fall within the scope of the journal coverage;
- not have been published previously except in very limited circulation.
If it is felt that a contribution, though technical in nature, will be of broad interest, it may be published under a "technical paper" heading. A paper can be considered for publication as a "research note" if it reports work-in-progress on research which has not yet reached a stage where there are any final results or conclusions. Its value will be judged by the extent to which it contributes to a debate on the research problem, methodology, techniques of data analysis, etc.

Topicality
Manufacturing, like other industries, is rising to the challenges imposed by aggressive consumer demands and the need for cost-effective processing which delivers quality in the fastest possible time. Fierce competition means that keeping abreast of new developments and applications in technology is essential if companies are to meet market demands profitably and keep ahead of their competitors.
Key benefits
A readable, informative and incisive blend of material is drawn from academics and industrialists in Europe, America and the Far East, so subscribers can see exactly what initiatives are being tested, plus research results and news-all presented with a practical bias, so information can be applied immediately to resolve problems. The journal's coverage of up-and-coming technology means it is an essential resource for strategists planning technological investment.
