Rice Science is an international research journal sponsored by China National Rice Research Institute. It publishes original research papers, review articles, as well as short communications on all aspects of rice sciences in English language. Some of the topics that may be included in each issue are: breeding and genetics, biotechnology, germplasm resources, crop management, pest management, physiology, soil and fertilizer management, ecology, cereal chemistry and post-harvest processing.

Instructions to Authors •SCOPE Rice Science is an international peer-reviewed journal sponsored by the China National Rice Research Institute and published by the Elsevier BV. It publishes original research papers, review articles, as well as short communications on rice sciences in English language. Some of the topics that may be included in each issue are: breeding and genetics, biotechnology, germplasm resources, agronomy, pest management, soil and fertilizer management and cereal chemistry.
•EDITORIAL POLICIES
Submission and Review
The manuscript should be submitted online through the Manuscript Central (http://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/rice or http://www. ricescience.org).
All manuscripts submitted will be evaluated by the Editorial Board. The Board may reject manuscripts without further review or may subject manuscripts to review, and reject those that do not meet the standards of the journal. When revisions are requested prior to final decision, revised papers must be received within two months or they will be treated as new submissions.
•Peer Review
This journal uses double-blind review, which means the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa. More information is available on our website. To facilitate this, please include the following separately: Title page (with author details): This should include the title, authors' names and affiliations, and a complete address for the corresponding author including an e-mail address. Blinded manuscript (no author details): The main body of the paper (including the references, figures, tables and any acknowledgements) should not include any identifying information, such as the authors' names or affiliations.
•Journal Policies
Articles are accepted provided they have not been published previously or concurrently submitted for publication elsewhere. Authorship should be limited to those who are able to take public responsibility for the content of the paper. The corresponding author must have obtained permission from all authors.
Author(s) must acknowledge all funding sources supporting the work.
Author(s) is requested to sign the copyright transfer agreement before the article can be published.

No page charges for publication in Rice Science.
•MANUSCRIPT FORMAT
Title Page. Include the following information on this page.
Full Title: Titles should be simple, informative, and comprehensible. Nonstandard abbreviations should be avoided. Titles are limited to 30 words.
Running title: Less than 80 characters.
All author(s) name(s): Authors from China should present their names using Bopomofo and Chinese characters. List the author(s) name(s) as follows: initials and/or first name, middle name or initial(s) and full family name (in uppercase). Separate different authors with commas and no full stops after initials.
Corresponding author(s):The name, complete address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of the corresponding author(s) should be provided.
Author affiliation: Include department, institution, and complete address for each author. If there are authors with different affiliations, use superscript-numerals to match authors with institutions.
Acknowledgement: List dedications, acknowledgments, and funding sources.
Abstract. Provide an abstract of no more than 350 words. Abstracts should be a noncritical, informative digest of the significant content and conclusions of the article.
Text. Research papers include four parts: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Describe procedures in sufficient detail so that the work can be repeated. Avoid laboratory jargon. Correct chemical names should be given and strains of organisms should be specified. Trade names should be identified by an initial capital letter with the remainder of the name lowercase. Names and addresses of suppliers of uncommon reagents or instruments should be provided. Use SI units and symbols. Review articles and Short communications may be organized according to their specific requirements.
Figures. Number figures (Arabic numerals) in the order in which they are cited in the text. Each figure should have a legend describing figure content. The figure legend should contain a figure title, a phrase that describes the figure, and a caption that explains what is illustrated. Composite figures must be pre-assembled. The maximum height of used figures is 252 mm which includes the legend, and the maximum width of used figures is 170 mm.
Tables. Number tables (Arabic numerals) in the order in which they are cited in the text. Each table should have a brief title, be on a separate page. Footnotes to the table should be indicated by superscript lowercase letters (or asterisks for significance values and other statistical data).
Nomenclature and Style. International standards on nomenclature should be used.
References. The author-date system is used for citing references. Only published or in-press literatures may be cited in the reference list. Abstracts of papers presented at meetings are not permitted. List all personal authors in the references.
