The journal was founded in 1981. One volume, composed of four issues, is published annually. The following types of contributions connected with biocybernetics and biomedical engineering can be accepted for publication: original research works, reviews (if ordered by BBE), short communications and letters. A special attention is focused on the following fields: biosystems, biomeasurements, artificial organs, biomaterials, biomechanics, medical information systems, neuronal nets etc. Any researcher can have a paper published in the journal. The only criterion for the acceptance of the submitted paper is its scientific value confirmed by the reviewers.
