Instructions to Authors
Optional Open Access Policy for TCRT
When an article is published under "Open Access," it , in full text, full image, and searchable form, becomes universally available in digital form, free of charge to anyone in the world. The authors, the publisher, and the right holders grant the right to use, reproduce, and disseminate the work in digital form to all users.
The availability of full text articles in fully searchable form under open access enables the various internet search engines and crawlers to go through the article and index the results. This may increase the probability of other researchers becoming aware of the work.
Open access treats the cost of publication as part of the research project, and it is estimated that the current cost is US $1,500 per article.
The authors of articles in TCRT may elect to have their articles published under "Open Access," provided the cost of publication (US $1,500) is paid in advance. This policy applies to articles already published or for future submissions. If open access option is not exercised, the articles will be published in the traditional manner, in print and online versions.
When an article is published in TCRT under Open Access, the following will happen:
At the TCRT web site (http://www.tcrt.org), a full text/full image, html version with a search engine will appear, and this will be accessible to anyone without any logins or payments.
Without logging in or paying a fee, a visitor can download the full text/full image PDF version of the article as it appeared in the print version.
Open Access articles will be identified by a special insignia in the Table of Contents at the TCRT web site.
Any supplementary material associated with an article will be available, free of charge, at the TCRT web site.
Adenine Press will not hold the copy rights for the digital version of "Open Access" TCRT articles that appear at the journal web site.

Subjects Covered
Technology in Cancer Research and Treatment welcomes manuscripts from active investigators involved in technologies devoted to early diagnosis, treatment, and palliation of cancer. The Journal will include both experimental and theoretical investigations. Among the topics that will be covered are MRI, including functional MRI, spiral CT, PET, optical spectroscopy, computer-aided reconstruction of tumors, computer-aided drug design, stereotactic radiosurgery, cryosurgery, brachytherapy, electroporation, photodynamic therapy, gene therapy, cancer vaccine, proteomics, and genomics, as they impact cancer research and treatment. Special emphasis will be given to non-invasive techniques. The Journal publishes original articles, express communications, opinion pieces, and timely reviews.
Where to Submit the Manuscript
The manuscript should be submitted as pdf or MS Word format to the editor-in-chief via e-mail (mukti@albany.edu). If a hard copy is required, the editor will request for one.
Review by Referees
All articles will be subject to review by expert referees to determine scientific soundness. Authors are welcome to suggest five possible referees. The editors may or may not consult the recommended referees. If referees are suggested, please include their complete mailing address, phone, and fax numbers and e-mail address.
Category of Articles
Regular Articles: There is no page limitation. For papers that do not undergo extensive revision, the normal publication time is between three and five months.
Accelerated Communication: Timely discoveries need to be communicated at an accelerated pace; that is, within two and three months. Authors wishing to have their manuscripts published as an accelerated communication should indicate this in the covering letter along with the arguments for immediate communication. Accelerated articles normally should not exceed 12 pages including tables and figures. Editors and referees will make the final determination on classifying an article for accelerated status.
Opinions: Opinion pieces will be published as soon as possible. Submissions should not exceed four journal pages. Papers in this section should present a new vision or perspective of recent developments. They may also address critically recent publications from any journal. In the latter case, the criticized authors will be given a chance to write a prompt response. Articles in this section should address unsolved controversies arising in current research. Authors interested in submitting in "Opinions" should e-mail their articles to mukti@albany.edu. Document should be in MS Word and figures in tiff or jpeg.
Revised Versions
The final revised version of the manuscript should be submitted in MS Word format as well as in pdf via e-mail to the editor-in-chief. In the revised version, the authors should highlight the altered sections. Also, the authors should write a covering letter answering point-by-point the questions raised by the reviewers. The figures should be stored as tiff or jpg format.
Fonts and Special Characters
For text, tables and figure legends, please use the font "Times"; for special characters and symbols, use the "Symbol" font or use appropriate key board equivalents under "Times". Please refrain from using the "insert" menu in Microsoft word for special characters and symbols.
Manuscript Organization
The manuscript must be organized in the following manner: Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgments, References. The abstract must strictly follow TCRT style and formatting (Click here for an example). The Materials and Method section should give sufficient detail so experiments can be repeated. The subheading "Results and Discussion" in many instances can be replaced by a set of appropriate subheadings that reflect the contents. In the Abstract section, if there is a reference, please provide the complete reference (rather than the number in the reference section). This is required because Chemical Abstracts and Biological Abstracts use the abstracts from the Journal directly. The legends for figures and tables should be grouped together and should appear at the end of the manuscript. Do not paste legends under the appropriate diagrams.
Title Page
Do not use all CAPITAL LETTERS for any entry in the title page; use both lower and upper cases. The title page must contain:
Title in upper and lower case.
Authors, their degrees and affiliation. When authors originate from different institutions, please include a complete mailing address for each institution.
The author to whom correspondence should be addressed must be indicated by an asterisk along with his/her phone, and e-mail data. This will appear as a footnote to page 1 of the article.
A short running title
Collection of key words.
Abbreviations.
Figures and Tables
Using red to indicate the appropriate place where the figures and tables should be inserted. Figure and table numbers must be marked clearly on all copies. Figures are numbered using the Arabic system (i.e., 1, 2, 3 ...) and tables are numbered in the Roman manner (i.e., I, II, III ...). Figure and table numbers must be marked clearly on all copies.
References and Footnotes
References are numbered sequentially and the numbers must appear in parenthesis in the text. Footnotes should be in lower case (i.e., a, b, c. . .) and added at the end of the reference section. Books and journals are treated equally, their names and volume numbers should appear in regular italics. Some examples of the arrangement of references (1, 2) are given below:
Ojha, R. P., Dhingra, M. M., Sarma, M. H., Shibata, M., Farrar, M., Turner, C. J., Sarma. R. H. DNA bending and sequence-dependent backbone conformation: NMR and computer experiments. Eur. J. Biochem. 265, 35-53 (1999).
Setlik, R. F. , Ojha, R. P., Dhingra, M. M., Sarma, M. H., , Shibata, M., Kazim, A. L., Ornstein, R. L., Rein, R., Turner, C. J., Sarma, R. H. 750 MHz and computer experiments on an anti-HIV-1 hammerhead ribozyme complex with a 17-mer DNA substrate analog of HIV-1 gag RNA, in Structure, Dynamics, Interactions And Expression of Biological Macromolecules, The Proceedings of the Tenth Conversation, Vol. 2, pp 163-174. Eds., R. H. Sarma and M. H. Sarma, Adenine Press, Schenectady, NY (1998).
Equations Mathematical equations should be created clearly and numbered in the text. The number should appear in square brackets, i.e., [ ] to distinguish them from reference numbers. The Journal follows IUPAC-IUB nomenclature.
No Page Charges
There are no page charges. Once a manuscript has been accepted by an Editor as scientifically sound, the Journal will publish the article at its expense. However, there may be a charge for certain special services. For example, a laboratory which has grant support must pay the cost of color illustrations. For laboratories without grant support, the Journal will pay for these services provided they are essential for the article. The minimum charge for processing color plates is $400 and will accommodate 2 to 4 color plates (depending on size) in a page. For more than one color page, please contact Adenine Press.
Page Proofs
The authors will be furnished with pdf files. It is the author's responsibility to correct proofs and return changes immediately. If the proofs are not received by the due date, Adenine Press will proof read and move forward with production. A reasonable number of corrections from the author will be incorporated at no charge. All other alterations and corrections will be billed to the author. Authors of articles accepted for publication in the Journal must sign a standard copyright transfer form. Authors are completely responsible for obtaining the permission to reproduce materials such as figures, and copyrighted text by a publisher/agency other than Adenine Press.
Responsibility of the Board
The Board-of-Editors, and the Publisher Adenine Press will have discharged responsibility once an article is published. They are not responsible for any or part of the statements and claims made by authors in their articles.
It is understood that the communicating author, collectively represents all authors of an article, and that he/she has obtained permission form all authors to communicate the article in their behalf. Adenine Press, Technology in Cancer Research and Treatment or its Board is not responsible, for any negligence or omissions by the communicating author.
