About the journal

JCAP encompasses theoretical, observational and experimental areas as well as computation and simulation. The Journal covers the latest developments in the theory of all fundamental interactions and their cosmological implications (e.g. M-theory and cosmology, brane cosmology). JCAP's coverage also includes topics such as formation, dynamics and clustering of galaxies, pre-galactic star formation, X-ray astronomy, radio astronomy, gravitational lensing, active galactic nuclei, intergalactic and interstellar matter.

JCAP's coverage includes all aspects of cosmology and particle astrophysics including:

  • Early Universe: Inflationary cosmology, The origin of the cosmic asymmetry between matter and anti-matter, Big-bang nucleosynthesis, Cosmic microwave background
  • Large-scale structure of the Universe
  • Dark matter and dark energy: The nature of dark matter and its detection, Vacuum energy and quintessence
  • Neutrino physics and astronomy
  • Gravitational waves
  • Particle and nuclear astrophysics
  • Black holes and their impact on cosmology
  • Gamma ray astrophysics
  • String theory and cosmology

Keywords

The keywords are divided between experimental and theoretical sections. Each section is then organized into groups. Authors must choose keywords to characterize their work. To submit a paper to JCAP, and to see full instructions on choosing keywords, please connect to the editorial Web site at SISSA.

Instructions to Authors

All submissions and refereeing are handled by the JCAP Editorial Office at SISSA. To submit a paper to JCAP, please connect to the editorial web site.

A submission to JCAP must be the original work of the author(s) and it should be substantial and significant in content. Papers submitted to JCAP must not have been published in other refereed journals, or be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except as an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review or thesis). Publication must have been approved by all co-authors (if any).

Papers must address one or more of the subject areas of JCAP. The criteria for acceptance are scientific quality, originality, relevance and comprehension. Length should be appropriate to the information presented. Editors are asked to apply a strict quality filter in selecting papers for publication. Editors and referees operate anonymously, but they can reveal their identity to the author if they so wish. In the event of major disagreements among Editors, or between an Editor and an author, the Advisory Board will be consulted in order to resolve the dispute.

The Advisory and Editorial Boards jointly review JCAP's scientific policy and ensure the scientific quality of accepted papers. Editors are in charge of assigning referees to each submitted paper and for making the final publication decision. There are many Editors in order to provide comprehensive coverage across JCAP's topic areas.
