About the journal
Official Journal of the American Society for Reproductive Immunology. Published in collaboration with The International Society for the Immunology of Reproduction, The Japanese Society for Immunology of Reproduction and The Israeli Society for Reproductive Immunology
The aim of the journal since its inception has been the accurate and fast presentation of new data in reproductive immunology. As reproductive immunology evolved from an initially laboratory oriented science toward increasing clinical applications, so American Journal of Reproductive Immunology evolved from a basic scientific journal into one increasingly directed toward both the basic scientist and the clinician. The scope is the whole process of reproduction as affected by immunological processes. The journal covers a variety of subspecialty topics, including fertility immunology, pregnancy immunology, immunogenetics, mucosal immunology, immunocontraception, endometriosis, recurrent spontaneous abortion, and autoantibodies.

3. The journal is now operating an electronic editorial office. It is therefore recommended that manuscripts are submitted online via http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ajri. Detailed instructions and advice are available on the Manuscript Central site. However, authors are still welcome to submit via hard copy. Submit an original and two copies of the manuscript, three sets of original figures and a computer disk containing an exact copy of the manuscript, with tables and figures in a separate file (TIFF, EPS or JPEG). The manuscript, including a structured abstract, references, figures, legends, and tables, must be typed DOUBLE-SPACED on one side only of 8-1/2 x 11 inch paper with 1-1/2 inch margins all around. Number each page top right (Title Page is 1). Please use the assigned reference number in correspondence. Submission of a manuscript will automatically represent that the authors have appropriate authorization from laboratory directors, department chairs, and/or grantees if such authorization is required. Submission is representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
All submitted manuscripts must be accompanied by either a completed Exclusive Licence Form (licensing copyright to Blackwell Publishing) or a completed Online Open Exclusive Licence Form (see below).
OnlineOpen is a pay-to-publish service from Blackwell that offers authors whose papers are accepted for publication the opportunity to pay up-front for their manuscripts to become open access (i.e. free for all to view and download) via the Blackwell Synergy website. Each OnlineOpen article will be subject to a one-off fee of $250 (equivalent to $2500) to be met by or on behalf of the Author in advance of publication. Upon online publication, the article (both full-text and PDF versions) will be available to all for viewing and download free of charge. The print version of the article will also be marked as OnlineOpen and will draw attention to the fact that the paper can be downloaded for free via the Blackwell Synergy service. All OnlineOpen articles will also be flagged up as such with any third parties Blackwell supply content to.
The work shall not be published elsewhere in any language without the written consent of the publisher. The articles published in this journal are protected by copyright, which covers translation rights and the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute all of the articles printed in the journal. No material published in the journal may be stored on microfilm or videocassette or in electronic databases or reproduced photographically without the prior written permission of the publisher. A covering letter should clearly identify the person (with address, fax, telephone numbers, and e-mail address) responsible for correspondence. Author(s) must also suggest three possible reviewers and mention any person(s) who may have a conflict of interest if requested to review the paper. If no conflict of interest exists, please explicitly state this in the covering letter. Failure to suggest three reviewers will delay processing.
4. Order the elements comprising the manuscript as follows: title page, abstract, key words, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions, appendix, acknowledgments, references, tables and figure-caption list.
5. Title page - This should include the title of the article, authors' names (with degrees) and affiliations, complete mailing addresses, fax and telephone numbers of one author who will review the proofs, and suggested running head. The running head should be less than 45 characters (including spaces) and should indicate either diagnosis or major features of the case.
6. Abstract - This should be page two of the manuscript (2). It should be structured and consist of no more than 150 words, organized into four paragraphs, labeled Problem, Method of Study, Results and Conclusions.
7. Key words - A list of 3-6 key words is to be provided directly below the abstract. Key words should express the precise content of the manuscript and consist of words or phrases not in the title, as they are used for indexing purposes, both internal and external. They should each be arranged in alphabetical order and separated by a comma (,).
8. Acknowledgments - All acknowledgments (including those for grant and financial support) should be typed in one separate paragraph that directly precedes the reference section. The inclusion of individuals and/or of institutions in the acknowledgment section in a manuscript requires a signed approval from each individual mentioned in the acknowledgment and/or of an authorized individual representing the institution(s) that clearly states that the individual(s) and/or institution(s) agree to be named in an acknowledgment section of the paper. Illustrations from other publications must be acknowledged. Include the following when applicable: author(s), title of journal or book, volume number, page(s), month and year.
9. References - References are identified in the text by superscript figures. All references cited in the text should be typed double-spaced in a separate section at the end of the paper and numbered consecutively in the order in which they are cited in the text. Once a reference is cited, all subsequent citations should be to the original number. Abbreviations should conform to those in Index Medicus.

Write the title of your paper, the name of the first author and the figure number on an adhesive label, which should be pasted on the back of each figure. On the label also indicate clearly the top margin of each figure. Illustrations in full color are accepted for publication if the editors believe that color will add significantly to the published manuscript. Digital artwork for reproduction should preferably be submitted as EPS, TIFF or high-resolution JPEG files and meet our standards, but we may also be able to use other formats so please include these (see http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/authors/digill.asp)
