The submission of a paper implies the author*s assurance that it is not being considered for publication in other journals. Once a paper is accepted for publication in the Taiwanese Journal of Mathematics, the author is assumed to have transferred the copyright to the Mathematical Society of the Republic China (Taiwan). Manuscripts should be written in English, clearly typed, with double spacing and wide margins. In case the manuscript has been electronically prepared in TEX, please submit the TEX file of your paper after it is accepted. The first page of the manuscript should consist of the title, a running head of length less that 35 letters. an abstract not exceeding 150 words, 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. key words and phrases, and full address(es) of the author(s). In case there are two or more authors, please indicate the one to whom the correspondence is directed. For the general format, the authors should consult the papers currently published in this journal. The first author of each accepted paper will receive 50 reprints free of charge; he is to share them with other joint authors. The authors are encouraged to contribute through their research grants or their institutions, at US$ 30.00 or NT$ 900.00 a page, towards convering the expenses of the journal. Our editorial treatment of any individual paper does not depend on whether the contribution is received. References should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the manuscript. Title of journals should be abbrivated in accordance with the "Abbreviations of Names of Serials" in Mathematical Reviews Annual Index (American Mathematical Society, 1995). The following reference styles should be used: 1. E Berkson and H. Porta, Semigroups of analytic functions and composition operators, Michigan Math. J. 25 (1978), 101-115. 2. K. Fan, A minimax inequality and applications, in : Inequalities III, Aademic Press, New York, 1972, pp. 103-113. 3. A. E. Taylor, Introduction to Functional Analysis, John Wiley & Sons, New York, 1958.
