About the journal

POLYMER COMPOSITES

Polymer Composites
Polymer Composites is the engineering and scientific journal serving the fields of reinforced plastics and polymer composites including research, production, processing, and applications. PC brings you the details of developments in this rapidly expanding area of technology long before they are commercial realities.

Instructions to Authors

Submission of original and review articles is encouraged. There is no limit on length. Four copies of the manuscript should be submitted, which should be typed, one side only, double-spaced, with at least a 2.5-cm (1-inch) margin. Submission will be taken to imply that the paper has not been previously published, that it is not being considered elsewhere for publication, and that if accepted it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in any language, without the consent of the editor or publisher.

Authors must agree to transfer copyright to the publisher when an article is accepted for publication. Unless notified to the contrary by the authors, the publisher assumes that the act of submitting the article signifies the authors' agreement to such copyright transfer to the publisher. The corresponding author should be identified, and the address, phone, fax, and E-mail address should be included if possible. The journal carries a voluntary page charge.
Each manuscript should include:

A separate title page, headed by a concise, meaningful title (no abbreviations). This page should provide:
o The name and affiliations of each contributing author at the time the paper was prepared.
o Acknowledgment of any prior oral presentation and original source of the material.

A separate abstract page, consisting of a single paragraph, text only, of 100-200 words to be headed by the title and the names and addresses of the authors. Define any abbreviations for substances or methods (such as ABS, SAXS, etc.).

A list of references, on a separate page at the end of the text, numbered in order of text citation. The references are to be abbreviated in the form used in Chemical Abstracts, using the names of all authors preceded by initials; see Bibliographic Guide for Editors and Authors, American Chemical Society, Washington, D.C.

Within the text, the reference citations are typed in parentheses in line with the main copy (no superscripts or subscripts), thus:
According to Agassant et al. (1)

In the list of references the general style is as follows:

For periodicals:
1. J.F. Agassant, A. Fortin, and Y. Demay, Polym. Eng. Sci., 34, 110 (1994).
The journal name is underlined or italicized, the volume number is boldfaced, and the year is placed in parentheses. The issue number is given only when needed for identification. The article name is eliminated unless the reference is unclear without it.

For books:
The title is spelled out in full and underlined or italicized.
9. J.M. Dealy and K.F. Wissbrun, Melt Rheology and Its Role in Plastic Processing, Van Nostrand Reinhold, New York (1990).
(Include the state or country when the city is not identifiable.) (Add page number after title, if appropriate.)

For patents:
12. R. Colombo, U.S. Patent 2,820,249 (1958).

As necessary, add a nomenclature list before the references, identifying symbols and abbreviations. Footnotes are to be avoided.

As necessary, equations, numbered and typed in the appropriate place in the text.

As necessary, tables, each typed on a separate page, with a heading, and numbered with Arabic numerals that correspond to the order in which they are cited in the text. The tables should be inserted in the manuscript after the references and before the figures.

Important:
English spelling is standard U.S., not British. (For example, use: behavior, mold, analyze, characterize, while, among, sulfur; aluminum, BUT DO NOT USE: behaviour, mould, analyse, characterise, whilst, amongst, sulphur, aluminium.)

Data in the SPE Technical Journals must be given in SI Units.

Figures are to be assembled at the end of the manuscript and preceded by a separate typed list of captions that explain them. Each should be identified on the front edge or on the back (photographs) with the name of the first author and the figure number (e.g., Smith, Fig. 1). Originals are to be prepared with high contrast India ink and to bear uniformly stenciled notations. Line drawings and photos should be of a quality suitable for good photographic reproduction and retained legibility upon size reduction to 7.6 cm (3 inch) width. Gray scales are to be avoided. Manuscript transmittal letter should indicate if the figures are to be returned to author.

Upon acceptance of manuscript, submit the text on a computer disk in one of the following formats: IBM-Microsoft Word for Windows, 5.0 or higher, files must be saved as Text Only (*.txt); or Word Perfect for Windows, 6.0 or higher, files must be saved as ASCII (DOS) Text (*.*); Macintosh-Word for Macintosh, 5.0 or higher, files may be saved as a Word Document or Text Only. Disk must be accompanied by hard copy of manuscript.
