Instructions to Authors
Authors may submit manuscripts for publication to any of the editors. Submission of a manuscript acknowledges that the paper is original and has not been submitted elsewhere. Information regarding the preparation of manuscripts is provided below. The author should contact Julie Honig, Department of Mathematics, University of California, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1555, julie@math.ucla.edu for more information. if there is need for further information. Correspondence by email is requested for convenience and speed.
Preparing and Submitting Manuscripts
Manuscripts should be submitted in English, French or German. Pages must be numbered consecutively and not by section or paragraph. Authors are required to include a brief abstract. The abstract should make minimal use of mathematical symbols and should not contain displayed formulas or bibliographic references. The body of the paper should begin with an introduction stating the purpose of the article and summarizing the principle results. Bibliographic references should be listed alphabetically at the end of the paper. The format for references can be found in our current issues. Authors should consult Mathematical Reviews for the standard abbreviations of journal names.
Authors are strongly encouraged to prepare their manuscript in LaTex2e and to use the PJM class file PJM.cls. A template is available at
http://www.math.uci.edu/~rstern/pjm/temp.html
which will explain the use of PJM.cls and allow you to begin typing immediately. Properly prepared LaTeX2e manuscripts allow you more control over the appearance of your manuscript in the Pacific Journal and can be more rapidly and accurately typeset. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit their paper electronically.
Manuscripts prepared by other means must be typed on one side of the page, with double-spaced lines, long formulas displayed, any Greek, German and script letters clearly differentiated from the text, and have generous margins for readability. If the submission is done by regular mail the author should provide 3 copies of the manuscript and the author should retain a complete copy of the manuscript.
If there are figures in the manuscript, they should not be executed by hand, but should be done using a software compatible with the rest of the manuscript, in such a way that they can be computer generated. The preferred method for figures is ``eps" files.
Papers may be submitted either to the Managing Editor or to anyone on our editorial board. The inside cover of the journal contains a listing of all the members of the editorial board together with their electronic addresses.
Page proofs will be available to the corresponding author at a designated website or in a .pdf or .ps file. Corrections are expected to be returned within one week.
