About the journal
![Molecular & Cellular Proteomics](http://www.mcponline.org/icons/home/top.gif)
Molecular and Cellular Proteomics (MCP) is a monthly publication which consists of original articles and short reviews that deal with the structural and functional properties of proteins and their expression, particularly with respect to development. It has an emphasis placed on determining how the presence or absence of proteins affects biological responses and how the interaction of proteins with relevant cellular partners allows them to function. |

Instructions to Authors
Authors and reviewers will need to register in BenchPress before they can submit their manuscripts to MCP or access manuscripts assigned to them for review.
Because BenchPress uses a shared registration system, if a user is already registered with another journal that uses the BenchPress system, there is no need to complete the full registration process outlined below. If this applies to you, log in at the site using your existing BenchPress email and password. All user, however, will need to complete a profile page for MCP.
To access the new BenchPress system, visit: http://submit.mcponline.org
Please follow these instructions to register and access the BenchPress system:
- Click on the Create a New Account Link from the login screen to enter the registration area. Enter your email address
- Click the Check for Account button to see if an account with that email address already exists.
- If an account does not exist, you will be prompted to register a new account.
- The system will send a verification email to the email address specified. Once you have received the email, click on the URL or cut and paste it into a web browser to verify the email address.
- Once the email has been verified, you will be prompted to complete a registration form.
- Once the registration form has been completed, you will be prompted to enter at least 5 areas of expertise.
- A confirmation screen will appear when you have completed the registration.
Authors are encouraged to review the following information before beginning their manuscript preparation:
Instructions to Authors for a description of MCP's style and format requirements for manuscripts for review.
Online submission instructions for information on the online submission process and requirements.
MCP Editorial Policies for an overview of MCP's publication policies.
Resources to assist authors in the preparation of articles containing Protein Identification data. – Including: MCP guidelines, a check list to help authors evaluate their compliance and a tutorial.
NEW: Guidelines for Preparing Manuscripts Describing Research in Clinical Proteomics
Guidelines for preparing digital images for submission
Other information of interest
Rapid Inspector – Use the Rapid Inspector software to check your figure files (TIFF or EPS) against JBC standards for format, resolution, color space and other figure requirements before you submit them to the Redactory office.
MCP and PubMed: Information for authors on depositing articles in PubMed Central, obtaining PubMed Central IDs and more.
Language Assistance. Authors who are not native English speakers may appreciate assistance with grammar, vocabulary, and style when submitting papers to the MCP. This can help maximize the accuracy and impact of the journal submission as well as aid in communicating ideas to fellow scientists and the MCP editors and reviewers. Several companies provide revising, editing, and proofreading services for scientific and medical research documents. These include:
Please note that neither the MCP nor ASBMB has used these services and thus cannot attest to the quality of their work.
