Instructions to Authors
The journal aims to provide a medium for rapid publication. In order to realize this aim, authors wishing to submit a paper to the journal should comply with the following requirements. Failure to do so will delay publication.
All manuscripts must be in English, and three (3) complete copies should be sent directly to the editor, together with any electronic version of the manuscript in disk form.
Format. Manuscripts should be preferably word processed with double spacing and wide left- and right-hand margins.
Original Nature. The author(s) must provide assurance that the manuscript has not been published, or submitted for publication, elsewhere.
Permissions. The author(s) must obtain written permission from copyright owners for any copyrighted work included in the manuscript. Copies of written permission should be submitted to the Editor with the manuscripts.
Title. Title, name, affiliation, and full address of the author(s), including the address for correspondence, should be stated on the title page. In the case of multiple authors, one should be designated as the corresponding author. If the title is longer than sixty (60) characters including spaces, provide a brief title for use as a running head.
Abstracts. A concise 100- to 200-word abstract is required. It should indicate both the objectives and the results of the research, and be a complete statement in itself.
Keywords. Four (4) keywords should be supplied for use in indexing.
Length. There is no formal limit to the length of a paper, but the editor may recommend condensation when appropriate.
SI Units. SI units must be used throughout the manuscript. All symbols must be clearly identified on the manuscript to avoid confusion in typesetting. A nomenclature may be included.
References. References should be listed in the text with the year in parentheses and listed in alphabetical order at the end of the manuscript. The format for referencing articles in journals, books, articles in books, and proceedings are:
Crespo da Silva, M. R. M., 1989, "Nonlinear effects on the non-planar dynamics of beams," in Proceedings of the First Pan American Congress of Applied Mechanics, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, January 3-6, pp. 182-185.
Figures. Figures must be photographically reproducible. Line drawings, including lettering, must be clear, sharp, and suitable for reduction. Half-tone photogra phs should be of high contrast and marked with the legend the author wishes to appear in the final form. Photographs, diagrams, and graphs should be referred to as "Figure" in the text (abbreviated to "Fig." only in the caption). A list of captions must be appended to the manuscript. Write your name and the figure number lightly on the back in blue pencil, and indicate in the margin of the text the most appropriate location for the figure. Indicate the top of the figure clearly.
Formulae. Formulae should be typewritten whenever possible. Alternatively, a fine drawing pen and black ink should be used. It is extremely important that all mathematical symbols and letters used are identified and listed and that the required type of appearance of such symbols is clearly indicated; e.g., bold face, italics, script, outline, raktur, etc. Sub- and super-scripts should be clearly indicated where confusion might arise. A full stop must be used as a decimal sign. Any symbols that might be confused with similar symbols must be identified in the margin. Equations should be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text as "equation."
Copyright. Authors will be asked, upon acceptance of an article, to transfer copyright of the article to the publishers. This will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information under copyright laws.
Proofs. The publisher will send the proofs to the corresponding author for correction. Author(s) should be diligent and prompt in proofreading. Extensive alternations in proofs other than the printer's errors may be charged to the authors.
Offprints. The publisher will provide the author (or authors) with a total of 50 offprints free of charge and two complimentary copies of the issue in which the article first appears.
Page Charges. There are no page charges.
