About the journal

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry

An International Forum for Thermal Studies

This fully refereed journal publishes high quality papers covering all aspects of thermal analysis, calorimetry and experimental thermodynamics. Now appearing in regular and special issues, the journal will be published in four volumes. Papers dealing with the above subjects are published in the following sections: Original Research Papers, Short Communications, Reviews, Bibliography Section, Modern Instruments and Note.
The main subjects covered are: thermogravimetry, derivative thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, thermodilatometry, differential scanning calorimetry of all types, non-scanning calorimetry of all types, thermometry, evolved gas analysis, thermo-mechanical analysis, emanation thermal analysis, thermal conductivity, multiple techniques, and miscellaneous thermal methods (including the combination of the thermal method with various instrumental techniques), and instrumentation for thermal analysis and calorimetry.
Emphasis is put on principles of thermal analysis in which experimental material is initially evaluated.

Instructions to Authors

The preferred language of the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry is English, but French and German manuscripts are also accepted from authors whose first language is French or German. It is suggested that authors of papers in French or German should supply a translation of the abstract and keywords in English. All papers submitted for publication will be referred by two independent referees.

  • The manuscripts should not exceed 12 type-written pages including references, tables and figures.
  • Scripts should be submitted in one original and one duplicate laser-printed form. The original and the copy should include two sets of figures and tables. You should support us with a disk written by a well-known computer program preferably with MS Word 6.0 or 7.0 (doc file), if it is possible.
  • The Abstract, which summarizes the original research in no more than 100 words, should be included as part of the main body of the text following the title/authors/affiliation. After the abstract, a few keywords should be given in the paper.
  • The recommendation of ICTAC and IUPAC should be followed in the nomenclature, abbreviations and symbols.
  • The figures should be in the form of A5 (146 x 210 mm) suitable for reduction and reproduction. (Figures do not need to exceed the 140 mm width.) Black and white photographs should be in the form of glossy prints. The author¡®s name, the title of the paper and the serial number of the figure should be written on the back of each print. Captions for illustrations should be brief and collected on a separate sheet. Figures are also accepted in electronic form on a separate disk, in a well-known format e.g. tiff (PC), bmp, pcx, cdr, xls, ppt, jpg, gif etc, or together with the text embedded in a Word 6.0 or Word 97 doc file. Please note that figures are required to have at least a 300 dpi resolution for printing.
  • Tables, each bearing a title should be self-explanatory and numbered consecutively. The same information should not be reproduced in both tables and figures.
  • References should be indicated in the text by consecutive numbers, (please do not use auto-numbering or bullets). The full reference should be given in a list at the end of the paper in the following form:

    6 P. O. Smith and M. O¡®Connor, J. Therm. Anal. Cal., 47 (1996) 517.
7 F. Paulik, Special Trends in Thermal Analysis, Wiley and Sons, Chichester 1995, p. 132.

Contributions should be submitted to the following address:

Lexica Ltd.
Production Department of JTAC
H-1146 Budapest
Thokoly ut 58-60
Hungary
Phone/fax: (36 1) 222-9276
e-mail: lexica@mail.datanet.hu

Authors will receive page-proofs which must be sent back to the same address.

Authors are entitled to 25 reprints free of charge. Additional reprints can be ordered at prices quoted in the Reprint Order Form sent simulataneously with the proofs. Electronic form of reprints is available from Kluwer.

Only original papers will be considered and copyright will be vested in the publisher. Owing to the recent changes in copyright laws the transfer of copyright from the author to publisher, previously implicit in the submission of a manuscript must now be explicitly transferred to enable the publisher to ensure maximum dissemination of the author¡®s work. A copy of the Publishing Agreement to be used for the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry is reproduced in each volume. Contributors may photocopy the agreement from the journal. A copy of this agreement, signed by the author must accompany every article submitted for publication.
