About the journal
The aim of this interdisciplinary and international journal is to provide a forum for the exchange of original ideas, techniques, approaches and experiences in the rapidly growing field of geographical information systems (GIS). It is intended to interest those who design, implement and use systems for monitoring, planning and policy-making. Published research covers applications of GIS in natural resources, social, systems, and the built environment, and developments in computer science, cartography, surveying, geography and engineering in both developed and developing countries.

International Journal of Geographical Information Science is an international multidisciplinary journal of original ideas, techniques, approaches and experiences in the rapidly growing field of geographical information systems.
Papers for consideration should be sent to the Editor, at the editorial office, address given below. Please send an original and three photocopies.
Papers are accepted for consideration on condition that you will accept and warrant the following conditions:
- You will transfer copyright to Taylor & Francis Limited, should the work be accepted for publication.
- The work is your original work, and cannot be construed as plagiarising any other published work.
- You own the copyright in the work.
- You are empowered by your fellow author(s) to make a submission to this Journal, and to make any agreement relating to the work.
- Your work has not previously been published in the English language.
- Your work is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, in any form.
- You have secured the necessary permission in writing from the appropriate authorities for the reproduction in your work of any text, illustration, or other material which is reproduced or derived from a copyrighted source.
- You have agreed with your fellow author(s) the order of names for publication of the work.
- You warrant that the work does not include content that is abusive, defamatory, libellous, obscene, fraudulent, or in violation of applicable laws.
If it is found acceptable for publication, you shall retain the right to use the substance of the above work in future works, on condition that you acknowledge its prior publication in the journal, and to the publishers Taylor & Francis Ltd.
The copyright in the work shall revert to you if the paper is not published.
There are no page charges in International Journal of Geographical Information Science.
The journal has a limited number of free colour pages within its annual allowance. Authors should consult the Editor with respect to colour reproduction at submission stage. Any figure submitted as a colour original may appear in colour within the journal's on line edition. Colour reproduction in excess of the journal's budget will only be considered on condition that the authors contribute to the associated costs.
Fifty complimentary offprints of your article will be sent to the principal or sole author of articles; book reviewers will be sent three offprints free of charge. Larger quantities may be ordered at a special discount price. An order form will accompany the proof, which must be completed and returned, irrespective of whether you require additional copies.
Books for, or offers to, review should be sent to the Book Reviews Editor, via the editorial office.
