Instructions to Authors
- General
- Manuscripts for the Journal should be sent to the chairman of the editorial committee. Authors may be members or non-members of the five societies shown on the front cover and may be of any nationality.
- Only papers not previously published will be accepted, and emphasis is placed upon originality of concept or observation. The text should be clear and concise, and detailed technical descriptions shall be given only when the methods are new.
- A paper for which rapid publication is desired will be accepted as a Letter to the Editor. The letter should not exceed 4 pages in print; in exceptional cases only, two additional pages may be accepted.
- Authors will receive proofs for correction. No page charges are made for the papers published in the Journal. However, authors are requested to purchase at least 100 reprints (charge for 100 reprints: US$35.00 per page). Color page charge: US$450.00 (45,000 yen) per page. Reprints should be ordered when the proofs are returned by the author. Reprints may be ordered in lots of 100 only, but with a minimum of 100. A reprint order form will be sent with the proofs.
- It is suggested that contributors return their final version of manuscripts to the committee in an electronic form with LaTeX format to shorten publication time.
- Technical
- Manuscripts should be written in English and should be typewritten on one side of durable white paper with double spacing.
- Submission of four copies of the manuscript is requested to facilitate refereeing. The manuscript should be carefully checked for errors.
- Each manuscript should be organized in the following order: title, author's full name, affiliation, abstract, text, acknowledgment, appendix, references.
- An abstract of not more than 200 words is requested for both full papers and letters. The abstract should be informative and include the principal findings and conclusions.
- Clear figures must be provided and their size should be 1.5-2 times as large as the desired reproduction size. All the figures should be numbered, and the captions for the figures should be attached to the manuscript. If the author wishes a specific arrangement of some figures, it should be indicated schematically on a separate sheet following the figure captions.
- One set of proofs will be sent to the author, to be checked for printer's errors. In the case of two or more authors, please indicate to whom the proofs should be sent.
- References should be given in the text by quoting the author's name and the year of publication, i.e., Yamakawa (1980). Full references should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of each paper, and should appear as follows:
Chapman, S. and J. Bartles, Geomagnetism, 272 pp., Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1940. Friedman, H., The sun's ionizing radiation, in Physics of the Upper Atmosphere, edited by J. A. Ratcliffe, 133 pp., Academic Press, New York, 1960. Yamakawa, M., The earth as a comet, J. Geomag. Geoelectr., 32, 600-611, 1980.
