About the journal

This international journal is dedicated to keeping pace with developments in the water desalting and purification field in all its aspects: theoretical and applied research, technological and industrial development, and the experience of operators and users.

Desalination welcomes original research papers and state-of-the-art reviews on all aspects of the field and encourages papers on new and advanced technologies for water treatment and for the development of integrated systems. Desalination covers all desalting fields - distillation, membranes, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, ion exchange, freezing, water purification, water reuse and wastewater treatment - and aims to provide a forum for any innovative concept or practice.

Audience

Chemical and Mechanical Engineers, Chemists, Water Authorities, Materials Scientists, Manufacturers of Desalination Membranes, Water Re-Use Engineers

Instructions to Authors

Submission information

Manuscripts and Diskettes
Send the original manuscript by e-mail to: Balaban@desline.com and two paper copies with the diskette by mail.
Pages should be numbered consecutively. Type the text flush left without an attempt at layout. Type text flush left. Do not use tabs, centers or footnotes. Words should not be hythenated. Papers containing a substantial number of equations must have a list of symbols with units. Authors are urged to express all quantities in SI units, with other units in parentheses if desired.
Original copy: Either incorporate figures in text or indicate place in margin. Encircle special symbols in red and use italics for symbols where appropriate. If there is any room for confusion, please indicate the numeral 1 (one), the letter l (cl), the numeral 0 (zero) and letter O (oh). Second copy: Highlight words to be used for a subject index.
Other copies: Unmarked. Files: Each file should start with the complete title and name(s) of author(s).
Label diskette: Your name, short title and article number if already received.
Manuscripts should be sent to:

Submission of Papers
Submission of an article is understood to imply that the article is original and unpublished and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
Upon acceptance of an article by the journal, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copyright of the article to the publisher. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination under the U.S. Copyright law.
All manuscripts will be judged by two independent referees.

Types of Contributions
1. Original research papers in the field of desalting and water purification.
2. Review papers about the various desalination methods - the present status and expected developments.
3. Technical papers concerned with design features of desalination plants and operational experience with such plants.

Manuscript preparation
Manuscripts should be written in proper English
Abstract
An abstract of about 200 words should preface the manuscript. Keywords should be provided.
References
References must be identified by Arabic numerals (e.g. 1, 2 etc). numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text (between square brackets) and listed at the end of the paper. For example: Articles in journals:
M. Tasaka. J. Membr. Sci. 9 (1993)51-60.
Chapters in books:
J.M. Dickson, Jn: B.S. Parekh, (Ed.), Reverse Osmosis Technology, Marcel Dekker, New York. 1988, pp. 56-70.
Books:
K.S. Spiegler and Y. El-Sayed, (Eds.), A Desalination Primer, Balaban Desalination Publications, Rehovot, 1994.
Tables
Each table should have a descriptive title. Separate columns by one tab.
Illustrations
Illustrations (figures, photos and graphs) are referred to the text and should be numbered consecutively throughout the paper by Arabic numerals (Fig. 1, Figs. 1-5).
Graphs may be original artwork, photographic copies or computer generated on a laser printer. Original diagrams should be drawn about twice the size of the final reproduction with lines sufficiently thick and letters and symbols large enough to stand reduction to 7.5 cm width. Please indicate, however, if illustrations should be represented on double width or sidewise on the page.
Photographs and photomicrographs should be submitted as unmounted glossy prints. Photographs must be identified on the back indicating the figure number, the author(s), the title of the paper and the top of the figure should be indicated by an arrow.
Formal: Please take into consideration that the journal is in two columns of 7.5 cm each, a total width of 16 cm. The total height is 20 cm (without running head).
