About the journal
Coastal Engineering Journal is a peer-reviewed medium for the publication of research achievements and engineering practices in the fields of coastal, harbor and offshore engineering. The CEJ editors welcome original papers and comprehensive reviews on waves and currents, sediment motion and morphodynamics, as well as on structures and facilities. Reports on conceptual developments and predictive methods of environmental processes are also published. Topics also include hard and soft technologies related to coastal zone development, shore protection, and prevention or mitigation of coastal disasters. The journal is intended to cover not only fundamental studies on analytical models, numerical computation and laboratory experiments, but also results of field measurements and case studies of real projects.
Instructions to Authors
- The manuscript should preferably be prepared on an English word processor and must be typed with double spacing and wide margin on one side of paper.
- The title and each author's full name should appear on the first page of the manuscript. This title page should also include each author's affiliation and mailing address.
- An abstract of not more than 200 words and a list of five or so key words should be provided on the second page of the manuscript. The abstract is also for inclusion in databases for academic and/or technological purposes.
- The text should appear from the third page of the manuscript. Headings and subheadings should be written as:
1 |
Major Heading |
1.1 |
Subheading of each subsection |
1.1.1 |
Sub-subheading of each sub-subsection |
- All mathematical expressions must be typewritten, and special symbols must be properly identified. All the notations should be defined where they first appear in the text, tables, or figures.
- Tables must be compiled on separate sheets and numbered consecutively.
- All illustrations (including photographs) should be glossy prints enlarged sufficiently to permit clear reproduction when reduced.
Figures must be drawn in black ink or laser printed on separate sheets, and numbered according to their sequence.
- Appropriate places for the insertion of the tables and illustrations should be indicated in the margin of the manuscript.
- References in the text must be quoted by the author surname(s) followed by the year of publication in parentheses. All references cited in the text should be grouped together in alphabetical order at the end of the paper (but preceding any Appendix).

- Equations
Displayed equations should be numbered consecutively with the number set flush right and enclosed in parentheses.
Equations should be referred to in abbreviated form, e.g., Eq. (1) or (1). In multiple-line equations, the number should be given on the last line. Displayed equations are to be centered on the page width. Standard English letters like x are to appear as x (italicized) in the text if they are used as mathematical symbols.
- The use of SI units is recommended.
Electronic submission of text. Authors are requested to submit the text in finally accepted form on a diskette storing the file(s) to the publisher or as an e-mail attachment to spatt@wspc.com.sg. It is essential that the name and verison of the word processing program, the type of computer on which the text was prepared, and the format of the text files are clearly indicated. Papers can be printed directly from author's electronic files when prepared in LaTeX.
Page proofs. One set of proofs is sent to the corresponding author, to be checked for typesetting. Authors will be required not to make any major alterations from their manuscript.
Copyright transfer. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copyright of the article to Japan Society of Civil Engineers and World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Reprints. Each main contributor will be given 50 copies of free reprints. Request for additional number of copies can be submitted to the publisher by completing the Offprint Request Form which will be sent to the contributors along with the proofs.
Discussions. Discussions will be accepted for a period of six months following the date of publication of the paper.
CEJ Award. The author(s) whose paper is considered to be of outstanding excellence in this journal will receive 'CEJ Award' from the Committee on Coastal Engineering, JSCE.
