About the journal
OENO One is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research, reviews, mini-reviews, short communications, perspectives and spotlights in the areas of viticulture, grapevine physiology, genomics and genetics, oenology, winemaking technology and processes, wine chemistry and quality, analytical chemistry, microbiology, sensory and consumer sciences, safety and health. OENO One is the result of collaboration between major universities and research institutes in the field of vine and wine sciences.
Our philosophy is Open Access because we believe that scientific publications should be made freely available to the international academic and private research communities. OENO One is supported by major players of the wine industry and charges only minimal fees to authors for publication.
The journal covers the following specific areas:
- Vine ecophysiology and climate change impact
- Genetic resources and vine selection
- Vine protection, sustainability and modelling
- Management and innovation of viticultural techniques
- Plant physiology and genomics
- Table grapes, dried grapes, and unfermented grape products
- Technology, processes, oenological products, winemaking
- Microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, and genomics of yeasts and bacteria
- Chemistry of macromolecules and volatile compounds (polyphenols, aromas, polysaccharides, nitrogen compounds, etc.)
- Analytical methods for grape and wine control
- Wine ageing, stabilisation and storage
- Additives and processing aids
- Sensory analyses, consumer interface
- Distilled beverages from grapes and wines
- Food safety, consumption, nutrition and health
- Vine, grape and wine innovations
The journal focuses on hypothesis-driven research studies suitable for an international audience. Emphasis is put on interdisciplinary studies at the environmental level for vine. Studies using wine consumption interfaces are also considered. Manuscripts are evaluated by qualified reviewers selected by the editors-in-chief and associate editors.
Instructions to Authors
OENO one accepts the following categories of articles :
- Original papers : 9 000 words, 10 tables and figures combined, 60 references
- Research notes : 5 000 words, 6 tables and figures combined, 40 references
- Reviews : 12 000 words, 10 tables and figures combined, maximum of 80 - 100 references
- Mini-reviews : 5 000 words, 4 tables and figures combined, 50 references
- Short communications : 3 000 words, 6 tables and figures combined, describing work that may be of a preliminary nature but which merits immediate publication.
- Opinions : viewpoints of about 1 200 words on any subject covered by the Aims and Scope, 4 figures and tables combined
- Letters : published from time to time on matters of topical interest or for response, 800 words, 2 figures-Tables combined.
Preparing your article for submission Please read the following information carefully to ensure that the review and publication of your paper is as efficient and quick as possible. The editorial team reserves the right to return articles that have not been submitted in accordance with these instructions.
Before uploading your article, please review the following:
Formatting Articles should be divided into clearly defined sections similar to the following:
- Title
- Structured abstract with keywords
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- References
References
Grape variety names Authors are required to use lead names according to www.vivc.de. AUthors should focus on lead names. Local names could still be mentioned.
File formats Article: .doc/.docx/PDF files are our preferred file type to be submitted as a single file. Manuscript can be submitted for evaluation as a non-formatted PDF file but we recommend you to use the template file available below. Please number each line in this file. Template for Word. In the Comment to the Editor box copy your cover letter where you can list prefered and non-prefered referees. Images: photographs and illustrations should be high quality images (.JPG, .TIF, .EPS) at 300 dpi, if possible. All line art should be at least 1200 dpi. Figures and Tables: can be images or Word files.
Please make sure to clearly name all images, figures, and tables and to refer to them in the content of your article.

Submission of a revised manuscript The authors will underline the modifications.
Publication fees The costs of producing and maintaining OENO One are recovered by charging a publication fee to authors for each article. The current publication fee is free for review, 500 euros, for an original research or a mini review and 250 euros, for other types of communication. Publication fees are free if the authors are members of OENO One. Authors who lack the funds to cover publication fees may request a waiver. Fee waivers are not automatically given but must be approved on a case-by-case basis by OENO One.
Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:
- Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-NC)
that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal
- Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
- Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.
