About the journal

Aims and Scope

Chem, a sister journal to Cell, provides a home for seminal and insightful research and showcases how fundamental studies in chemistry and its sub-disciplines may help in finding potential solutions to the global challenges of tomorrow. 

Chem publishes work from across the chemical sciences and at the interfaces between chemistry and other disciplines. On submission, authors are asked to categorize their article into at least one of the following ten Sustainable Development Goals identified by the United Nations:

Dr. Robert Eagling

Editor-in-Chief

Robert Eagling, PhD,

is a graduate of Newcastle University in England and brings to Chem his over 15 years of experience in chemistry publishing. He came to Cell Press from the Royal Society for Chemistry, where he helped grow submissions and readership of Chemical Society Reviews and Chemical Communications and led the launch of Chemical Science.

Dr. Ilaria Cianchetta

Scientific Editor

Ilaria Cianchetta, PhD,

specializes in materials science. She recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Getty Conservation Institute and has served as a scientific consultant for NanoShare and the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro.

Dr. Vjekoslav Dekaris

Scientific Editor

Vjekoslav Dekaris, PhD,

is an organic/synthetic chemist who completed his PhD at Freie Universität Berlin and postdoctoral studies at Princeton and the City University of New York. For the last 3 years, he worked on Elsevier’s Reaxys platform and joined the team in April 2016.

Dr. Fenglin Liao

Scientific Editor

Fenglin Liao, PhD,

specializes in physical chemistry and catalysis. She recently completed her PhD and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford. She joined Chem in December 2016 and works out of Shanghai, China.
