Instructions to Authors

Paper Types

Before submitting an article to JGR-Space Physics, please review the following acceptable paper types:

  • Regular article: A full-length paper describing new geophysical results.
  • Technique: A full-length article describing a new technique written to conform with the Policy on Referencing Data in and Archiving Data for AGU Publications . Such a paper must also include at least one new science application demonstrating the usefulness of the technique as a basis for new and interesting scientific results.
  • Brief Report: A paper that would not exceed six published pages which contains either new geophysical research results or a description of a new technique or data set.
  • Review Paper: A paper that reviews past research on a particular topic of space physics.
  • Comment: A short paper commenting on a particular aspect of another paper previously published in JGR-Space Physics.
  • Reply: An author’s reply to a Comment
  • Correction: An author’s correction to a substantial error in a paper previously published in JGR-Space Physics.
  • Data Report:   A full-length article describing a new data set written to conform with the Policy on Referencing Data in and Archiving Data for AGU Publications . Such a report must also include at least one new science application demonstrating the usefulness of the data set as a basis for new and interesting scientific results.

Revisions

When submitting a revised manuscript, your submission must include the following elements:

1. Point-by-point responses to reviewer comments

• Multiple reviewer responses can be uploaded in a single document, clearly labeled with Reviewer #1, Reviewer #2, etc.

• Upload as file type (from drop-down menu): Response to Reviewer

2. A “tracked-changes” version of your revised manuscripts showing changes made since previous version.

• Use “Track changes” feature in Word or Latex, or make use of bold or highlighted text

• Upload as file type (from drop-down menu): Response to Reviewer

3. A file that contains figures paired with captions directly beneath each figure.

• Upload as file type (from drop-down menu): Response to Reviewer

• This may be combined with the tracked-change file (#2) to satisfy both requirements

4. Publication ready files:

• Article file: Publication-ready article files are limited to Word documents (.doc or .docx) or LaTeX files (.tex). Upload as file type (from drop-down menu): Article
