About the journal

Aims and Scope

Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies (ETT), formerly known as European Transactions on Telecommunications (ETT), has the following aims:

• to attract cutting-edge publications from leading researchers and research groups around the world
• to become a highly cited source of timely research findings in emerging fields of telecommunications
• to limit revision and publication cycles to a few months and thus significantly increase attractiveness to publish
• to become the leading journal for publishing the latest developments in telecommunications

To this end, the scope of the ETT has undergone a change starting from 2012, with the emerging themes and topics in the Keywords section below being of particular interest.

In order to improve the quality of published papers, a diversified and highly qualified board of executive editors has been appointed. Their main tasks are:

• to manage the editorial process so that the aims of the journal are met
• to encourage paper submission
• to propose special issues and topics
• to invite tutorials and critical reviews

ETT welcomes open contributions from every country in the world. It publishes:

• invited papers (tutorial or critical reviews)
• regular papers (original scientific contributions)

Publication acknowledged by the Convention of Societies of Electrical Engineers of Europe (EUREL).

Instructions to Authors

Effective with the 2010 volume, this journal will be published in an online-only format.

Print subscription and single issue sales are available from Wiley’s Print-on-Demand Partner. To order online click through to the ordering portal from the journal’s subscribe and renew page on WOL.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies operates an online submission and peer review system that allows authors to submit articles online and track their progress via a web interface. Please read the remainder of these instructions to authors and then visit http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ett and navigate to the Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies online submission site.

IMPORTANT: Please check whether you already have an account in the system before trying to create a new one. If you have reviewed or authored for the journal in the two years it is likely that you will have an account.

All papers must be submitted via the online system.

File types. Preferred formats for the text and tables of your manuscript are .doc, .docx, .rtf, .ppt, .xls. LaTeX files may be submitted provided that an .eps or .pdf file is provided in addition to the source files. Figures may be provided in .tiff or .eps format.

The LaTeX style guide for authors can be found at: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1002/(ISSN)2161-3915/homepage/la_tex_class_file.htm

NEW and REVISED MANUSCRIPT

Non LaTeX users. Upload your manuscript files. At this stage, further source files do not need to be uploaded.
LaTeX users. For reviewing purposes you should upload a single .pdf that you have generated from your source files. You must use the File Designation "Main Document" from the dropdown box.

MANUSCRIPT STYLE

The language of the journal is English. Preferred file format is double spaced using the LaTeX class file, saving time in the process. The submitted paper should use 11 point font, single spaced, with figures and tables being part of the main document. Regular papers should not exceed the length of fourteen pages, including figures and tables.

  • During the submission process you must enter the full title, short title of up to 70 characters and names and affiliations of all authors. Give the full address, including email, telephone and fax, of the author who is to check the proofs.
  • Include the name(s) of any sponsor(s) of the research contained in the paper, along with grant number(s) .
  • Enter an abstract of up to 250 words for all articles. An abstract is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions, and is understandable without reference to the rest of the paper. It should contain no citation to other published work.
  • Include up to six keywords that describe your paper for indexing purposes.
  • Table of contents entries. Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies publishes a Graphical Table of Contents (GTOC). Authors must submit an abstract figure (diagram or illustration selected from the manuscript or an additional "eye-catching" figure) and accompanying text for this abstract with the original manuscript. The GTOC entry should include the paper title, the authors’ names (with the corresponding author indicated by an asterisk) together with the figure and no more than 80 words or 3 sentences of text summarizing the key findings presented in the paper.
Reference style . References should be cited in the text by number within square brackets and listed at the end of the paper in the order in which they appear in the text. All references must be complete and accurate. If necessary, cite unpublished or personal work in the text but do not include it in the reference list. Where possible the DOI *for the reference should be included at the end of the reference. Online citations should include date of access. References should be listed in thefollowing style:
  1. Jin WG, Cheung YK, Zienkiewicz OC. Trefftz method for Kirchhoff plate bending problems. International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering 1991; 36 : 765-781.
  2. Reismann H. Elastic Plates: Theory and Application . Wiley: New York, 1988;1-10.
  3. Oestreicher, N., The cost of adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with early-stage breast carcinoma, Cancer 2005; 104(10) , pp. 2054 - 2062, DOI: 10.1002/cncr.21464.

*The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is an identification system for intellectual property in the digital environment. Developed by the International DOI Foundation on behalf of the publishing industry, its goals are to provide a framework for managing intellectual content, link customers with publishers, facilitate electronic commerce, and enable automated copyright management.

Illustrations. Figures must part of the main document. Tints are not acceptable. Lettering must be of a reasonable size that would still be clearly legible upon reduction, and consistent within each figure and set of figures. Where a key to symbols is required, please include this in the artwork itself, not in the figure legend. All illustrations must be supplied at the correct resolution:

  • Black and white and colour photos - 300 dpi
  • Graphs, drawings, etc - 800 dpi preferred; 600 dpi minimum
  • Combinations of photos and drawings (black and white and colour) - 500 dpi

ACCEPTED MANUSCRIPT

LaTeX users and non LaTeX users. Editable source files must be uploaded at this stage. For all your source files you must use the File Designation "Supplemental Material not for review". Previous versions of uploaded documents must be deleted. Tables must be on separate pages after the reference list, and not be incorporated into the main text. Figures should be uploaded as separate figure files in .tiff or .eps format. Provide also the full document as a PDF file using the File Designation "Main Document" from the dropdown box.

For more information on this policy and the Journal’s compliant self-archiving policy please visit: http://www.wiley.com/go/funderstatement.

In case of submissions already presented to a Conference or a Workshop, the new submission to ETT must be different from the initial version in at least the 30% of its contents, generating a more solid work which is substantially expanded and renewed by significant enhancements.

SUPPORTING INFORMATION

Supporting Information can be a useful way for an author to include important but ancillary information with the online version of an article. Examples of Supporting Information include additional tables, data sets, figures, movie files, audio clips, 3D structures, and other related nonessential multimedia files. Supporting Information should be cited within the article text, and a descriptive legend should be included. It is published as supplied by the author, and a proof is not made available prior to publication; for these reasons, authors should provide any Supporting Information in the desired final format. For further information on recommended file types and requirements for submission, please visit: http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/suppinfo.asp

POST ACCEPTANCE

Further Information. For accepted manuscripts the publisher will supply proofs to the corresponding author prior to publication. This stage is to be used only to correct errors that may have been introduced during the production process. Prompt return of the corrected proofs, preferably within two days of receipt, will minimise the risk of the paper being held over to a later issue. Once your article is published online no further amendments can be made.

Articles may be published online via Wiley's EarlyView service onlinelibrary.wiley.com shortly after receipt of corrected proofs. EarlyView is Wiley's online publication of individual articles before the release of the compiled print issue of the journal.

Free access to the final PDF offprint of your article will be available via Author Services only. Please therefore sign up for Author Services if you would like to access your article PDF offprint and enjoy the many other benefits the service offers. Additional copies of the journal may be ordered. There is no page charge to authors.
