Aim and Scope of the International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sciences

The International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sciences (IJASS) encourages submission of papers addressing all aspects of aerospace science and technology, which include acoustics, aerodynamics and fluid mechanics, aerospace telecommunications, airworthiness and maintenance, avionics, combustion and propulsion, flight dynamics, guidance and control, flight simulation and operations, low carbon manufacturing, nano application, plasmas and lasers, research instrumentation and facilities, space exploration, structural dynamics and aeroelasticity, structures and materials, and thermomechanics and reacting flows. The journal also addresses the ground and flight tests of aerospace systems including aircraft, air ship, helicopter, microelectromechanical system, missile, satellite, rocket, and UAV.
The Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences (KSAS) is the largest and the most prestigious society for aerospace engineers and scientists in Korea and would also like to maintain our highest standing in the English language journal publication by soliciting high quality research papers. As of 2012, IJASS is indexed by SCIE, SCOPUS and KCI.
Starting from 2012 vol 13 (1), IJASS has been accepted for coverage in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE). The Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences (KSAS) is pleased to announce that the publications of our journal, IJASS (International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sciences) have been selected for coverage in Thomson Reuter’s product and services.

Publication Charge

In order to maintain a high quality of IJASS, all manuscripts accepted on or after March 1st, 2015 will be charged a publication fee of $300 (300,000 KRW) for 8 published pages and $100 (100,000 KRW) for each additional page.
The authors can apply for a waiver of publication charge when the paper is accepted for publication. Depending on the significance of the paper and the contributions of the authors to IJASS, a full or partial waiver of publication charge will be determined.

English Correction Service

English Correction Service of IJASS will no longer be available free of charge. All accepted articles submitted on or after March 1st, 2015 will be held for publication unless the Associate Editor handling the manuscript finds its English is suitable in its current form or the authors pay for the English Correction Service. The IJASS English Correction Service is $200 (200,000 KRW) up to 8 pages, and $50 (50,000 KRW) for each additional page.

Beginning with Volume 13 (1), 2012, IJASS will be indexed and abstracted in:
  • Science Citation Index Expanded (also known as SciSearch®)
  • Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition
  • Current Contents®/EngineeringComputingandTechnology
The journal solicits papers from a wide range of countries. Acceptance of a submitted paper will depend on a fair technical review and on the judgment of the editors.

RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION ETHICS
Research published in IJASS must have followed institutional, national, and international guidelines. For policies on research and publication ethics that are not stated in these instructions, the Guidelines on Good Publication Practice (http://publicationethics.org/static/1999/1999pdf13.pdf) should be applied.

Authorship

An author is one who has made a significant contribution to the overall design and execution of the paper; therefore, the IJASS deems all authors responsible for the entire paper. Assistants should not be listed as authors, but may be recognized in the Acknowledgements section.

Originality and Duplicate Publication

All submitted manuscripts should be original. While a manuscript is under review, the author should not submit it to other scientific journals for publication. No part of the accepted manuscript should be duplicated in other scientific journals without the permission of the Editorial Board. If duplicate publication related to the papers of this journal is detected, the authors will be announced in this journal, their institutes will be informed, and there will be penalties for the authors.

Conflict of Interest Statement

The corresponding author must inform the editor of any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the authors' interpretation of the data. Examples of potential conflicts of interest are financial support from or connections to commercial entities, political pressure from interest groups, and academically related issues. In particular, all sources of funding applicable to the study should be explicitly stated.

PEER REVIEW AND PROOFS
Translated material, which has not been published in English, will also be considered. Most articles are refereed to ensure both accuracy and relevance, and amendments to the manuscript may thus be required before final acceptance. On acceptance, contributions are subject to editorial amendment, but authors will receive proofs for approval before publication. Corrections can be returned by normal (or air) mail or fax/e-mail if these are minor amendments. One set of proofs will be sent to the first named author before publication, which should be returned promptly to the Editor by e-mail if the proposed amendments are minor or by first-class mail (by express air mail if outside Korea). The publishers reserve the right to charge for any amendments made at the proof stage (other than printers' errors) since the insertion or deletion of a single word may necessitate the resetting of whole paragraphs.

COPYRIGHTS
By submitting an article for possible publication, authors are expected to agree to the 'Transfer of Copyright', should the article be selected for publication. The transfer of copyright covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article, including reprints, photographic reproductions, microform or any other reproduction of similar nature and translations, and includes the right to adapt the article for use in conjunction with computer systems and programs, including reproduction publication in machine-readable form and incorporation in retrieval systems.

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPT
The original manuscript file should be submitted to the Editor by posting at http://ijass.org. Articles should be up to 6,000 words long, equivalent to 20 pages, although articles longer than 6,000 words will be accepted on an occasional basis, if the topic demands this length of treatment. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts, whether original or revised, are accurately typed before final submission. Manuscripts may be returned to the author with a set of instructions if they are submitted in a form substantially different from our style.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
Manuscripts should be typed single-sided and double-spaced with a 11-point font. Every page should be numbered. The footnotes, abstract, and references should also be double-spaced. Size A4 paper is preferred, with a left-hand margin of 20 mm.

Format of Papers

Title page:

Short title (up to 14 words), subtitle (if desired), author's name and affiliation. Respective affiliations of co-authors should be clearly indicated.

Abstract and Keywords:

Self-contained abstract of up to 200 words, outlining in a single paragraph the aims, scope, and conclusions of the paper; maximum four keywords or phrases.

Text:

Main body of text, suitably divided either under numbered side headings with un-numbered and un-titled paragraphs, or numbered main paragraphs with titles containing related, numbered subparagraphs for which further headings are optional (i.e., paragraph numbering 3., 3.1, 3.1.1, etc.).
The text should be organized under appropriate side or main paragraph headings, which, ideally, should not be more than 500-600 words apart. If side headings are used, they should be in capitals and placed on the left-hand side at the start of the related text, with a double-line space above and below. If main paragraph headings are used, they should be in capitals and placed at the beginning of the paragraph text with a double-line space above; the first line of subparagraphs should be indented with titles in italics. Authors are urged to write as concisely as possible, but not at the expense of clarity. Descriptive or explanatory passages, necessary as information but which tend to break up the flow of the text, should be put into appendices.

Acknowledgement:

The Acknowledgment section, if used, must be placed before the References. Sponsorship or financial support acknowledgment should be included here. The Acknowledgement section and the References must not be numbered.

References:

The Vanquver style system is the preferred reference system for stipulations not otherwise described below: References should be listed at the end of the paper, double-spaced and conforming to current Journal style. Corresponding bracketed numbers are used to cite references in the text [1]. For multiple citations, separate reference numbers with commas [2, 3], or use a dash to show a range [4-7]. Reference citations in the text should be in numerical order. The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) should be incorporated in every reference for which it is available (see the first reference example). For more information on DOIs, visit www.doi.org or www.crossref.org.
