About the journal

Toxicology Research
A new, multi-disciplinary journal covering the best research in both fundamental and applied aspects of toxicology
About Toxicology Research
Journal summary
Toxicology Research brings together established and emerging areas of toxicology in one journal. Combining chemical and biological studies, the journal aims to advance understanding in all areas of physiological toxicology through the publication of high quality research and review articles. Research which covers interfacial or emerging topics - such as computational and predictive toxicology - is particularly welcome.
Editor in Chief: Nigel Gooderham, Imperial College London, UK
- Free access to all articles published in 2012 and 2013
- No page or colour charges
- Open Access options available
Toxicology Research is published in partnership with the British Toxicology Society and Chinese Society of Toxicology.
Scope
Toxicology Research publishes Communications, Full Papers and Review Articles which cover chemical or biological aspects of toxic response and the mechanisms involved to chemicals found in drugs, food or the environment. The journal's scope includes:
- Biomarkers of toxicity- including studies on their identification, validation, and utilisation
- Carcinogenicity - including studies on mode of action of carcinogens, genotoxicity and mutation
- Computational and predictive toxicology - including in vitro, in vivo and in silico studies of toxicity and the development of predictive tools and models
- Genetic toxicology- including studies on DNA damage, mutation, repair, recombination, replication and transcription
- Nanotoxicology - studies on the molecular level and the mechanisms of toxic responses to nano materials
- Risk assessment - studies which provide toxicological data or information - such as hazard identification, dose-response assessment and exposure assessment - for the development of risk assessments or regulation.
- Systems toxicology - studies which describe the toxicological effects of chemicals on specific organs or systems (e.g. immune, nervous, reproductive, respiratory), including studies which incorporate genomic, metabonomic and proteomic data
The following areas are not within the scope of Toxicology Research. If you wish to submit an article in one of these areas please visit our sister journal Environmental Science: Processes and Impacts.
- Studies which focus only on toxic contaminant levels in the environment or in populations, and the sources, transport or fate of these contaminants
- Biomarkers for the detection of contaminants in the environment
- Environmental contaminant studies that do not discuss toxic effects on a molecular level
