About the journal

Aims and scope
Each Interface Focus themed issue is devoted to a particular subject at the interface of the physical and life sciences. Formed of high-quality articles, they aim to facilitate cross-disciplinary research across this traditional divide by acting as a forum accessible to all. Topics may be newly emerging areas of research or dynamic aspects of more established fields. Organisers of each Interface Focus are strongly encouraged to contextualise the journal within their chosen subject.
Article types
Interface Focus publishes peer-reviewed, themed articles concentrating on a specific, cross-disciplinary subject.
Selection criteria
The criteria for acceptance are work of outstanding quality and international importance, originality and interest across disciplines. To be acceptable for publication a paper should represent a significant advance in its field, rather than something incremental. The Editors are responsible for all editorial decisions and they make these decisions based on the reports received from the referees.
Publishing format
Interface Focus articles are published regularly online and in bimonthly print issues. Along with all Royal Society journals, we are committed to archiving and providing perpetual access.
Editorial board
Interface Focus has an international editorial board with expertise across the biological and physical sciences.
Abstracting and indexing
Interface Focus has been approved for indexing in PubMed Central, Scopus, WOS, JCR, Biosis Previews and Biological Abstracts.
