Focus and Scope
International Journal of Psychological Research Publishing Regulation
The International Journal of Psychological Research (Int.j.psychol.res) is the Faculty of Psychology’s official publication of San Buenaventura University in Medellin, Colombia. Int.j.psychol.res relies on a vast and diverse theoretical and thematic publishing material, which includes unpublished productions of diverse psychological issues and behavioral human areas such as psychiatry, neurosciences, mental health, among others.
Published Work Classification: Int.j.psychol.res publishes articles that respond to the following typology being strict in the number of words accepted (references included):
- Scientific and Technologic Research Articles (5000 words maximum): document that presents, in a detailed manner, the original results of finished research projects. The structure generally followed contains four sections: Introduction, method, results and conclusions.
- Review Article (8000 words maximum): it is the resulting document of a finished research project where results of published or unpublished researches are systematized and integrated, about a science or technology area to inform the State of the Art and development tendencies in the field. It is characterized for containing a minimum of 50 bibliographic references literature review. Int.j.psychol.res recommends authors of systematic revisions, or meta-analysis to do so following PRISMA method, which can be found at: http://www.prisma-statement.org/. Nonetheless, Cochrane or Campbell can also be used in the process.
- Reflection Article (5000 words maximum): this document informs the results of a research project from an analytical, interpretive, or critical standpoint of the author about a given topic using original sources.
- Letters to the editor (250 words maximum): they contain critical, analytical or interpretive positions about the published material on the journal that for the editorial committee, constitute an important contribution to the topic discussion in the research scientific community.

Instructions to Authors
Submission Preparation ChecklistAs part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Editorial proposals must be unpublished

When sending the article to the journal, legal and formal requirements are automatically accepted as well as terms for publication’s evaluation and selection.

Reception of the manuscript does not compromise IJPR to its publication; only to its analysis under diagnosis, evaluation, and editorial policies.

The author commits to refraining from presenting the manuscript or any of its parts to other journals for as long as the decision and evaluation are taken about its content without prior editorial consent; this includes not participating in contests that affect the assessment process.

Text ethics to avoid plagiarism is something we insist on. Rights must be respected in citing texts and images adequately and avoiding the use of other texts in an excessive manner.

The definite manuscripts must be sent to the journal through OJS just as described in the section above.

Maximum extent of the manuscript will be of 5000 words for scientific, technological and reflection articles. For review articles a maximum of 8000 words will be accepted.

Font: Arial; font size: 12 points; space: 1,5; and alignment: justified. Margins can be the ones pre-established on the Word program by defect: 2,5 cm.

Images and tables, besides graphs must be placed at the end of the article (after the references list) in extra sheets. Besides this, it is mandatory for the author to send this material on an extra file (other than the original). The author can, however, suggest the place on which the images and tables or graphs should be included. Nevertheless, during the layout process, required adjustments will be carried out for the best possible presentation of the final manuscript.

Sources for citations must meet high standards (indexed journal articles, chapters and books of recognized publishing houses).

In all cases the author will need to inform the editorial, in written form, the use of images or illustrations, show its source, quantity and explain the technical requirements for their use (multimedia, software, special illustrations, and others).

Footnotes should be avoided. They will be considered only in case they are absolutely necessary.

Italics will be used to mark a word emphasis or short phrase, to use a foreign unfamiliar words, etc.

All pages should be numbered on the upper right corner.

Author Guidelines
Authors must send their articles according to the manual of the American Psychological Association about publications regulations in its sixth edition in English, or third in Spanish. To know what kind of material is received, check the appropriate section a: Type of material publishedBellow, you will find most relevant standards for the sending of your manuscript. Structure and form of the manuscript: the text will be submitted writed in format Word size letter (21,59 x 27.94 cm.), double spaced, justified and in font Times New Roman 12; You must not carry about indents, or capital letters. Extension: the accepted maximum length shall be 30 pages for research articles , reflection, revision and translation, including tables, notes and figures. Preliminary results or case reports, should have a length not exceeding 10 pages. Letters to the editor and the reviews do not exceed 3 pages. Other classes of articles shall be subject to the criteria of form and content that it deems the Editorial Committee. Language: The authors must be to submit the paper in English if the authors send the paper in the Spanish language, the editorial team will do the peer review process too, however, if the manuscript is approved, the authors must be converted it to the English language (both languages for abstract english-spanish).
If English is not your first language, consider having your manuscript professionally edited before you submit by someone with considerable English-language editorial experience. In addition, the Authors take full responsibility for the quality of the translated text.
Authors who do not submit their paper in both languages will be offered a translation for a fee according to the market price of ($ 22 US Dollars, until February 28, 2018 ) per standard page. The fee will be paid after the paper has been accepted and before its publication. Organization and sequence of the manuscript: for research papers, preliminary results and case report, the organization will be as follows: introduction, method, results, discussion, conclusions (this section can be omitted in the opinion of the author) and references. In letters to the editor and the reviews is appropriate to include a references section to properly support the opinion of the author, or to allow comparisons with other texts. For all jobs, the first page will have consigned the title of the work (in English, Spanish, and maximum 12 words), name and surname of the authors with academic titles, institutional affiliation, address of the institution, the main author address for correspondence, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail. On the second page record a summary in Spanish and another in English, each of which must be between 120 and 150 words. Summary and abstract must be precise and concise, focus on the most important features of the study. Empirical studies should describe the objective, the methodological aspects and the results. Key words in Spanish and English (keywords) are included in a number of not less than three and not more than six, these words must be recognized in the Thesaurus of the APA. In the following pages do the other sections that should be your manuscript according to the latest edition of the manual of publications of the APA. References must be according to APA in its latest version. To cite journal articles follow the following order: last name (s), initial (s) name (s)) (year). The title of the article. The name of the magazine, Vol., (number), page start-page end. An example would be: Gutiérrez, M., & Eysenck, M. W. (1995). Sesgo interpretativo en la ansiedad de evaluación. Ansiedad y Estrés, 12(3), 5-20. Check the latest edition of the publications manual of the APA to know in detail each of the forms of citation depending on the type of bibliographic sources, and to resolve any questions related to publication rules.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal will be used exclusively for the purposes declared by this journal and are not available for any other purpose or another person.
In addition, the names of the participants in the study will be coded with numbers, letters or essays that remain strictly confidential the personal identification or the number of each patient's medical history.
