About the journal
Aims & Scope
IEEE Photonics is an online-only rapid publication archival journal of top quality research at the fore-front of Photonics. Photonics integrates quantum electronics and optics to accelerate progress in the generation of novel photon sources and in their utilization in emerging applications at the micro and nano scales spanning from the far-infrared/THz to the x-ray region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Original short and full length contributions to IEEE Photonics are welcome. Contributions can address issues ranging from fundamental understanding to emerging technologies and applications. The scope of the Journal includes topics in:
- Photon sources from far infrared to x-rays
- Photonics materials and engineered photonic structures
- Integrated optics and optoelectronics
- Ultrafast, attosecond, high field, and short wavelength photonics
- Biophotonics, including DNA photonics
- Nano-photonics
- Magneto-photonics
- Fundamentals of light propagation and interaction; nonlinear effects

IEEE Photonics offers Open Access on demand only. Its new publishing platform allows authors to link multimedia and other supplemental material.
