The Magazine from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Cuyo University) publishes original and unpublished articles, in Spanish and English which deal with topics related to agricultural Sciences, Bromatology and renewable Natural resources. Such articles may be research papers, scientific notes and reviews.

Form and preparation of manuscripts

Research notes are the result of a theoretical, experimental or field scientific research ,which provide an original contribution to knowledge. They should not exceed the sixteen pages.

Scientific notes, which should not exceed the eight pages, are original works and such results -even partial results- should be published briefly. In this category we can include the description of new species and crops, plagues, diseases and methodology adjustments.

The reviews will be carried out by outstanding specialists from the fields dealt in the magazine. Such reviews will be required by the Editorial Committee and must not exceed the twenty pages.

As from January 1st 2013, each designed black and white page will cost 20 Us dollars. Each color page will cost 40 us dollars. We recommend adapting your work to the established number of pages; otherwise every extra page will have a cost of 60 us dollars.

The authors of such works may belong to the editing institution or to other Faculties, Research centers or organisms which carry out investigations related to the topics previously mentioned.

The material and an application form asking for its publication shall be forwarded to the Academic Publications Center, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences UNCUYO , Alte Brown 500 Chacras de Coria . Argentina. M5528AHB according to the format  established for this case (download sample note)

A printed A4 copy ,with  doble spacing, fond Arial 10 and one side sheet only shall be sent to the previous address.

Lines must be numbered on the left side.

Pages must be numbered in the upper right side. Therefore, it´s essential to have the computer file of such work, written with Word. If geographical distances make it impossible to carry out  the previous steps, then  the file may not be sent by letter and it  can be sent to the  following e-mail  address: ccea@fca.uncu.edu.ar.

Every work will be subject to revision of specialists (at least two) who have a wide national and international experience. These specialists will receive the work with an evaluation sheet and they will give a critic review of  the material and will determine if it can be published or not. The author may suggest some evaluators who may be considered by the Editor in the evaluation process. The relevance of the original will be determined by the Editorial Committee, whereas its acceptance or rejection will be determined by the evaluator  or by the fulfillment of the requirements of originality of the work. Moreover, the Editor will return to the candidates without any previous evaluation all the manuscripts that do not adapt the Magazine´s presentations standards.

In order to provide a unique criteria for publication The Edition Center will modify , if necessary, titles, styles and will be able to re design it. Once this step is completed a PDF file will be sent to each author for its revision. Such revision period should not take longer than seven consecutive days. Once the magazine has been published, ten supplements of the magazine will be delivered to the first author of each article.

The articles must be written in a clear, precise language, must develop its content with scientific foundations and must follow the following instructions:
Authors:  Author´s  full name, Institution that he belongs to, address, e-mail address

Abstract: In Spanish and English no more than two hundred words.
The topic of the work , methodology, result and conclusions must be developed  precisely and briefly .The author must not include background information of the topic, drawings and bibliographic quots.

Key Words: In Spanish and in English. It is recommended to consult specific thesaurus.

Introduction: It must be brief and it should include a synthetic revision of the topic knowledge up to now, with specific references to support this knowledge and it will establish the aspects which have not been solved yet. The objective as well as the hypothesis must also specified in the introduction  in order to clarify the concept of the work.

Materials and Methods: The experimental method will be developed, the sampling and its statistics as well so that they can be used as a basis to other investigators.

Charts: The title in Spanish and in English, must be placed on top of the chart. Each should be self explanatory, ie it will not be necessary to read the whole article to understand them. The same information must not be repeated in charts and graphics. No other information which is not dealt in the article can be included in the charts. The format should be done with MS Word and not as an image. Each field or data must be separated with tabs and never with space bar. The total width must not exceed 15 cm. If there are footnotes, they should be written in Spanish and in English.

Graphics: The title in Spanish and in English must be included below them. If there are footnotes they must be in Spanish and in English. They must be self explanatory and the information from the charts shall not be repeated in the graphics. The original file must be sent separately with the word processor version information if the graphic was designed with Excel, Corel Draw, Statistica for Windows, etc . Another possibility is to send the file in Windows Metafile (wmf) format.

Pictures: They can only be included if they provide information which can clarify the content of  the article. They must be clear and with high contrast. They must be sent as electronic tif or jpg files and with not less than 300 ppp. If the photo is on a paper it must be sent with the original and after publishing it will be returned to its author.

Maps: They must only be included if they provide essential information to understand the article.
If designing the graphics, photos or maps which require color must be placed in one page. In this way the authors will reduce costs for each color page (40 us dollars each).

Results: They must be expressed clearly and precisely, using charts, images and highlighting the most relevant aspects of the work.

Discussion: In results interpretation special emphasis must be placed in agreements and disagreements with the theoretical framework. You may write this section separately or with the Results as one unit.

Conclusions: They must be short and they have to show findings, solutions and/or correct applications and uses. They must be coherent and they have to agree with the objective and hypothesis of the work.

Bibliography: All the bibliographic references used in the work must be included. An alphanumeric system will be used in which the references must be ordered according to alphabetical order. As a consequence such reference will appear in the text between parentheses with the number corresponding to such bibliographic reference.
Each bibliographic reference must include the following information (ask for examples)

  1. Reference number
  2. Author´s Surname and initials.
  3. Publishing year. Previous publications must be included For ex: 2001. 3 rd
  4. Complete title of the article in its original language. In case of magazines, first the title of the article  and then the name of the magazine, the issue and/ or number and pages of the article
  5. City of Publication (country if necessary)
  6. Publishing house
  7. It´s important to know that when it´s a personal article you must quote the source ( person´s name and year) but they do not have to be included in the bibliographic list.
  8. From internet references specify: author, year, title, URL (http:// www....)
  9. Consultation date

Acknowledgements: A brief and precise mention of each person or institution worth of acknowledgement can be done
The complete scientific names will be mentioned once and then you can only use the initial of the gender and  the specie without adding the classification The proper name must be together with the scientific name. Latin expressions must be written in italics (ex: et al, in vitro).
Chemical symbols can be used in the text (ex: N for nitrogen) but chemical formulas cannot be used but its name (ex; water and not H2O). You may also used abbreviations of common use such as ATP, DNA etc.
When mentioning quantities then have to be stated in letters from zero to nine except when they are with measurement units or higher numbers are included (ex: 2,7 and 25 samples). In Spanish decimals are stated with a comma and in English with a point.
We recommend authors to check the control list which appears in the Web page:
http://revista.fca.uncu.edu.ar

To verify that all the requirements previously stated have been fulfilled
