About the journal
Korean Journal of Metals and Materials is a domestic academic journal written in Korean, which publishes outstanding papers reporting research results in the domestic metal and material fields, and which was founded in 1963. The papers published in the Korean Institute of Metals and Materials, which has a long history, are selected on the basis of strict requirements, and this Journal, which is published 12 times a year, has become the best academic journal in Korea. The fields of papers published in this Journal are limited to those concerned with metals and materials, and can be divided into the following representative fields.

Rules for contributing to the Journal of the Korean Institute of Metals and Materials
  1. The members of the Korean Institute of Metals and Materials can contribute the following papers to the Journal of the Korean Institute of Metals and Materials.
 
  1. Research Paper: the completed paper regarding creative work in the science and technology of metals and other materials.
  2. Technical Note: A note concerning research contents which require swift communication, even though the note may not have the form of a research paper.
  3. Comment and Reply: Constructive comments and corresponding replies regarding an already published paper.
  1. At least one person among a paperâ™s authors should be a member who has paid the membership fee for that year.
  2. The research paper should not have been published in any other academic journals or publications before it was contributed to this Journal.
  3. The means for contributing papers is via mail or through the Web.
 
  1. Contribution by mail: After filling out the paper contribution request form, submit an original and two copies to the Institute; the day of the paper’s arrival at the Institute is considered the day on which the paper is received.
  2. Contribution by Web can be made on the homepage of the Korea Institute of Metals and Materials (http://www.kim.or.kr).
  1. Manuscript preparation should be done in HWP (.hwp) or MS Word (.doc) or as a PDF file. In the case of submitting the paper by mail, you should submit the final file to the Institute after the examination has been completed.
  2. As a general rule, the academic language of the paper is Korean, and you can also use an international academic language (English, German, and French).
  3. The units used are SI, CGS, or MKS.
  4. The paper should be within the limit of ten pages as printed in the Journal of the Institute.
  5. Before the paper is published in the Journal, the writer should proofread the first proof.
  6. As a general rule, a paper published in the Journal will not be returned to the writer.
  7. The contributor should pay the specified paper typesetting fee, if the paper is published in the Journal.
  8. The basic number of special copies is 20,;if it is more than 20, the actual expenses should be paid by the contributor.
  9. References should be given in the well-known simplified form. The simplified form is shown in Table 1.
  10. These regulations apply as of January 1, 2003.
