Journal indexed in ISI Master Journal List (Thomson Scientific) Instructions to Authors Journal Advances in Interventional Cardiology is the official journal of the Working Group on Cardiovascular Interventions of the Polish Cardiac Society The journal carries papers from the area of widely construed interventional cardiology, including original research articles, review articles, and case studies. As a forum for Polish interventional cardiologists, the journal also publishes letters to the editor discussing issues related to interventional cardiology in Poland, comments on previously published papers, reports on the activities of individual interventional cardiology centres, reports on new initiatives within the community, as well as reports from conferences and workshops. Original papers are published in English with Polish abstracts, other papers are published in Polish. The writing style should be clear and concise, and the manuscript should follow a classical layout. Original articles should adhere to the following structure: 1) Introduction and aims; 2) Materials and methods; 3) Results; 4) Discussion; 5) Conclusions; 6) Acknowledgements and declarations; 7) References. References should be numbered in the order of appearance in the main body of the text (rather than alphabetically). Within the body of the text, references should be placed between square brackets. The names of the first three authors should be given, and any further authors should be indicated by ‘et al.â€? Journal names should be abbreviated according to Index Medicus. References should use the following style: Journal articles: Lefevre T, Louvard Y, Morice MC, et al. Stenting of bifurcation lesions: a rational approach. J Interv Cardiol 2001; 14: 573-585. All submissions should have a running title in the language in which they are submitted, to be placed at the top of each page of the printed article; a full title in Polish and English; 3-5 keywords in Polish and English; as well as Polish and English titles and captions for tables and figures. Original submissions must also include a structured abstract in Polish and English (not to exceed 250 words each). Case studies should not contain tables. Figures and photographs should be numbered using Arabic numerals and attached as separate printouts (and placed in separate files in the electronic version). Figures should be saved using one of the following formats: .cdr, .tif, .jpg, .ai, .bmp or .eps. Photographs in electronic formats should have a resolution of 300 dpi, and should be saved as .tif or .jpg files. For figures (photographs) that have been published previously, the source should be given, and written permission to use them should be obtained from the copyright owner. NB. Original papers may be submitted in English or in Polish. If original submission is in Polish it will be translated in English by the Editorial Office following acceptance for publication. Abbreviations should always be explained at first mention (this also applies to the abstract). Other than in exceptional situations, abbreviations should not be used in the title of the submission. The submission should be accompanied by a cover letter stating that the manuscript has not been published previously, that it has not been submitted for publication in another journal, that all the authors have participated in the preparation of the manuscript, and that they are familiar with its content and endorse it. The letter should also include a declaration of transfer of copyright to the Publisher, free of charge, if the manuscript is accepted for publication.
