About the journal

Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures

ISSN (printed): 1679-7817
ISSN (electronic): 1679-7825.

Thank you for visiting this web site and for your support to the Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures, LAJSS.
LAJSS
is supported by the:
  • Argentinean Association of Computational Mechanics
  • Brazilian Association of Computational Mechanics
  • Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering
  • Chilean Society for Computational Mechanics
  • Mexican Association of Numerical Methods in Engineering and Applied Sciences

LAJSS has also the financial support of the Brazilian Research Funding Agencies CNPq and CAPES and it is indexed in the Web of Science, SCOPUS, DOAJ, EBSCO, SOCOLAR and SCIELO.
LAJSS is a free journal, with on-line and hard copy versions. It is published four times a year (March, June, September and December) and its contents can be freely downloaded from this site.
In  Lecture & Historical Notes  you will be able to download relevant educational material for teaching and research as well as some seminal articles published decades ago. There you will also find a bit of the history of this journal.

The Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures is a forum for publication and dissemination of original work related to mechanical and civil engineering sciences. Researchers all over the world are welcome to submit their papers covering theoretical, numerical and experimental topics in continuum and applied mechanics, in both their linear and non-linear aspects. Interest covers inorganic as well as organic solids and structures.

In order to accomplish a high standard, papers submitted to the journal undergo a peer reviewing procedure coordinate by the editorial board and covering the following areas:

  • Acoustics Vibration
  • Aerospace Science and Technology
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Biomechanics Composite and Cellular Materials
  • Computational Methods
  • Dynamic Systems & Control
  • Experimental Mechanics
  • Material Modelling
  • Microsystems and Machine Design
  • Multiscale phenomena
  • Nanomechanics
  • New materials
  • Ocean and Offshore Engineering
  • Optimisation
  • Structural Mechanics
  • Theoretical and Continuum Mechanics
  • Thermomechanics and fluid-solid interaction

Author Guidelines

LAJSS publishes only full technical and original articles. Authors will be required to adhere during submission of their articles to the following items:

  1. The submission has not been previously published.
  2. The authors mutually agree with the contents of the article and with the stated authorship.
  3. The submission file must be in PDF (Portable Document Format) file format.
  4. The LAJSS (Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures) accepts only articles written in English. The text must adhere to the layout standards as provided in the template article available in the journal website; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. All articles are peer-reviewed.
  6. Although papers are required to attend to journal layout standards before submission, once accepted, the article has its layout reviewed to add issue specific information (such as page numbering) and correct small formatting mistakes.
  7. The abstract should contain the main points described in the text, in no more than half a page. There is no limit of references cited but the maximum number of pages per article, in its published form, should not exceed 30. Figures must be of good quality, unlimited file size, and, preferably, in vector format.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
