About the journal
The journal Comptes Rendus Mathematique covers all topics in Mathematics classed in the specific fields: Logic Combinatorics Number Theory Algebra Homological Algebra Group Theory Lie Algebra Mathematical Analysis Potential Theory Complex Analysis Ordinary Differential Equations Partial Differential Equations Harmonic Analysis Functional Analysis Optimal Control Geometry Algebraic Geometry Analytic Geometry Differential Geometry Topology Differential Topology Dynamical Systems Probability Theory Statistics Numerical Analysis Automation (theoretical) Computer science Mathematical Physics Mathematical Problems in Mechanics Calculus of Variations Game Theory Signal Theory Mathematical Economy.
Articles presented are original notes describing briefly an important discovery or a significant result. The Comptes Rendus Mathematique aim at keeping a high scientific level and a prime position among rapid publication scientific reviews. The scientific quality of articles is guaranteed by international peer-reviewing. The periodicity of this series, 24 issues per year, allows rapid publication. You will be able to read articles about scientific discoveries, two or three months after their acceptation. Articles are written either in English or in French and are limited to 4 pages. However, bilingual notes (French/English) can reach 6 pages. Texts come from the entire international community and distribution of the journal is regularly widening throughout the world, with an increasing number of readers and authors, especially in countries where the contributers to scientific advancements are par-ticularly active.
Instructions to Authors
Language and length
A Note is either bilingual (English/French)* or is submitted in French. In all cases, it should include two short abstracts, each of 100 words at most, one in French, the other one in English. Figures and tables must also have captions in French and in English.
If written in French, a Note shoud not exceed 4 printed pages (a printed page consists of 45 lines of 95 letters, symbols or spaces per line).
Bilingual Notes may extend to 6 printed pages under the condition that they include an Abridged English Version if the Note is written in French, or a "French Abridged Version" should it be written in English. Abridged Versions should consist of one and a half printed pages at least and two printed pages at most. That is to say between 6,000 and 8,000letters, symbols or spaces. Abridged Versions should refer to the figures, tables, equations and references of the main version.
Notes including figures may exceed the number of pages allowed. In that case, prior authorization of the Editors in Chief and the Permanent Secretaries will be required.
Technical requirement
The manuscript should be typed, double spaced (text, abstracts, captions, etc. ) and submitted in two copies. Each note should include the following items :
1. the scientific field under which it is to be published (the list of headings is to be found in the first issue of each volume or can be sent upon request) ; when applicable, a second heading may be added, in that case, the note will appear twice in the table of contents ;
2. the title in French and in English the running title (should not exceed 60 letters and spaces) ;
3. the author(s) first name followed by the surname ;
4. a short abstract in French and in English ;
5. the abridged version, should the note be bilingual ;
6. the main text ;
7. the captions of tables and figures in both English and French ;
8. a numbered list of references in alphabetical order. Each reference is to show the author?s surname and first-name initials, the complete title of the article, title of the journal, volume, year, first and last pages of the article.

9. postal address, telephone and fax numbers and electronic mail address(es) (E-mail) of the author(s) or affiliation ;
10. the name, address, phone and fax number of the person to whom the texts are to be sent for proof-reading.
Additionally, authors are asked to pay special attention to the following items :
- no original documents must exceed 21 x 29,7 cm;
- originals of figures must be submitted with letters and numbers large enough to allow eduction;
- internationally accepted units should be used ; tables of international IS and derived units appear in the first issue of each volume;
- mathematical equations must be clearly typed, with special attention to sub and superscripts;
- the meaning of less common symbols should be specified in the margin. Special instructions and explanations for the printer are to be noted on a separate sheet attached to the manuscript;
- no sentence should begin with a mathematical formula.
Acceptance of a note
A note is submitted through a full Member of the "Académie" or through a Foreign Associate or a "Correspondant" who will accept or not to present it. The list of Members, Foreign Associates or Correspondants can be found in the last issue of each volume or sent upon request.
Proof-reading
Only the notes definitely accepted by the Reading Committee and the Permanent Secretaries are printed, after, if necessary, a revision of the first version. Only typographic corrections can be made on the proofs. Corrected proofs and manuscript should be sent to Éditions Scientifiques et Médicales Elsevier by return mail. This condition is imperative in order to ensure publication in a period of five to six weeks after acceptation.
Reprints
25 reprints will be sent to the author(s) free of charge. Additional copies can be obtained at the author?s expense provided an order form is enclosed when the corrected proofs are returned.
** However, after an exceptional authorization given by the Permanent Secretaries, a note can be accepted in another language using latin alphabet. In that case, it must include both a French and an English version.
** Due to the brevity required, it may not always be possible to include all the conclusive experiments or the complete proof of the results obtained. Therefore, we recommend that a text, typed if possible, be enclosed in support of the note, providing the supplementary information needed for a thorough understanding, in order that the submitting Member might easily examine the note. This document will be kept at the Academy for five years so that, on request, any Comptes rendus reader may have access to it. In this case, a footnote will appear at the end of the note stating this is the succinct version of a text on file for five years in the Academy Archives. Copy available upon request.
