About the journal

ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF MATERIALS (quarterly publication) carries on the activity of the “Building Materials” Journal that was first published in 1971. Since 2002 it is a bilingual publication (Romanian - English).
It is a source of information for researchers, engineers, and undergraduates and for everybody interested in the fields of ceramics, binders and concretes, glass and composite materials.
The aim of the Journal is to reflect the knowledge stored from fundamental and applied scientific investigations, of a high level, and maintained by a rigorous reviewing carried out by renowned specialists in this field, both from Romania and from foreign countries.
The Journal was recognized by the National Council of Scientific Research within Higher Education - CNCSIS group A, is indexed and abstracted in Thomson Reuters Services (Science Citation Index Expanded, Materials Science Citation Index, Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition), SCOPUS, abstracted in Chemical Abstracts, IPGA - Glass File Database, ProQuest, included in the cathalogue of Canada Institute for Scientific & Technical Information and ACI - Concrete Knowledge Center
Since 2005 the Romanian Journal of Materials has been published by the Foundation for Materials Science and Engineering “Serban Solacolu” that was set up in the homage Centenary year - Serban Solacolu, founder of the Romanian School of Oxide Materials Science and Engineering.

Type of contributions
The Romanian Journal of Materials publishes bilingually (Romanian-English) original scientific papers (max. 10 pages), pieces of news (max. 5 pages), notes (max. 3 pages), and synthesis articles (max. 15 pages), provided these have been previously agreed with by the editorial board, book reviews (max. 1 page).
Short information notes, and also synthesis papers may be accepted, provided these have been previously agreed by the editorial board.
It is advisable that the article should not exceed 5 authors. 6 authors are accepted in the case of National Research Programs presentations.
Way of presenting the papers
The title of the paper will be written in capital letters Arial bold 14, a line is left and then the name of the authors is put down in capital letters Arial bold 10; an index is placed next to each author, meant to mention the institution the respective author works for and the complete address of the institution. By an asterisk is mentioned the corresponding author, whose telephone, fax, e-mail will be located at the foot of the first page.
The abstract of the article, that will consist of 100 words at the most, is introduced one line after the authors’ addresses.
The keywords (Arial 10, italic), in the English language, will be selected from the following list. (Other words, which may not be found in the list, may also be added).
Structure of the paper: introduction, description of method of work, results, interpretations and discussion, conclusions, references.
The titles of the chapters are numbered and are written in Arial 10 bold italic. They are all aligned to the left. |

The text of the article is written on paper format A4 Arial 10 and single space, each paragraph being 1 cm indented. The position of the figures and the tables shall be mentioned.
The tables (separate file) will be placed in 8 or 16 cm.
The title and contents of these (where needed) is compulsorily bilingual and written in Arial 8.
The photographs shall be original (otherwise it is needed the written permission of the jurnal in which they appeared) and very clear as, during publishing, they are reduced to a width of 8 cm, jpg or tif type files may be also sent. The drawings and the diagrams are separately inserted in the file, Word, Excel format (writing of at least 3 mm and the line of 0.5 mm). The legend shall be bilingual, and the co-ordinates of the diagrams only in English.
The references will be written only in English (Arial 8), according to the following model:

PEER REVIEW
The articles proposed by the authors are subject to a peer review to be carried out by 2 specialized reviewers, a process that may take 90 days at the most. After the review has taken place, the editorial staff receives the reports based on which it is decided if the proposed paper may be included in the following 3 categories:
A. rejected for publication;
B. proposed for publication with the modifications suggested by the reviewers (if the sent texts require modifications, the term for taking the decision of publication is delayed)
C. accepted for publication.
The author will be informed of the editor’s decision by e-mail |
Sending of the papers by e-mail in Word 97/2000/XP files
The papers will be accompanied by a page with the a statement signed by all the authors according to which the paper was not and will not be printed in another publication, and the authors’ copyrights are surrendered to the Journal. The authors are exclusively responsible for the contents of the published paper.
