About the journal
Aims & Scope
Current Gene Therapy is an interdisciplinary journal focused on providing the readership with current and comprehensive reviews on all aspects of gene therapy. The journal is aimed at all academic and industrial scientists who are interested in understanding either the pre-clinical or clinical research on gene therapy. The journal serves as an expert forum to convey all the latest research on gene transfer and gene expression analysis, animal models, vector development and human clinical applications for the treatment of disease.

Instructions to Authors
MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
Manuscripts may also be submitted openly to the Editor-in-Chief without prior invitation.
Reviews provide the reader with a comprehensive assessment of any area of experimental biology applied to molecular medicine that is not only of significance within a particular field of gene therapy but also of interest to investigators in other fields. Authors are encouraged to provide their own assessment and vision for future advances. Reviews are also welcome on late breaking discoveries on which substantial literature has not yet been amassed. Such reviews provide a forum for sharply focused topics of recent experimental investigations in gene therapy primarily to make these results accessible to both clinical and basic researchers. They should therefore be a critical but balanced assessment of the field and should not dwell on authors' own published experimental results.
Please submit your manuscript to the CGT Editorial Office at cgt@univ-nantes.fr and provide us with the following:
- A cover letter including the corresponding author's contact information (address, telephone and fax numbers, email), the number of figures and tables and word count.
- An electronic copy of the Manuscript (Word) including figures and tables.
In order to expedite the review process, you may provide us with a list of 5 potential reviewers and their contact information including email.
A successful electronic submission of a manuscript will be followed by a system-generated acknowledgement to the principal/corresponding author within 72 hours of the dispatch of the manuscript. Any queries therein should be addressed to mahmood@bentham.org and copied to Jalil@bentham.org
MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
All manuscripts should be written in English and should not exceed 60 pages (25 printed pages), including, references, tables and figures. They should be submitted as Microsoft Word (DOC), rich text (RTF), or PDF files.
Title Page: The title page should contain the title, authorship (First name, middle name (initials) and surname only), affiliations, name of the corresponding author. The principal author should be denoted with an asterisk.
Abstract: The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
Keywords: A list of eight key words that are not included in the title should be provided. Please refer to standard MeSH-Medline major subject headings.
Abbreviations: Abbreviations should be defined the first time they appear in the text. A list of all abbreviations used should be provided.
Text: The main text should begin on a separate page and may be subdivided into separate sections. The review article should mention any previous important reviews in the field and contain a comprehensive discussion starting with the general background of the field. It should then go on to discuss the salient features of recent developments. The authors should avoid presenting material, which has already been published in a previous review.
Acknowledgements: All sources of financial support should be mentioned along with specific statements regarding potential competing financial interests. Please refer to the competing financial interests section for details.
References:
References should be quoted in the text as name and year within square brackets as follows: [Abbas et al., 2000; Cavazzana-Calvo et al., 2000]. They should be listed alphabetically in the reference section at the end of the paper. All references must be complete and accurate. Abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications (which can only be included if permission has been obtained) should not be given in the reference section but they may be mentioned in the text and details provided as footnotes. In the reference section, all authors of referenced papers must be cited and there must be no use of the short hand version of et al. when citing authors.
On-line citations should include date of access. Journal titles should conform to the present Index Medicus abbreviations. Full paper titles should be given. References should be listed in the following style:

Tables: Each table should include a title/caption. Detailed legends may be included. Vertical rules should not be used. Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals based on the order in which they appear in the text. They should be referred to as ?Table 1)? ?Table 2)?etc. in the text with numbers in bold and in parentheses. References should be quoted in tables as name and year within square brackets as follows: [Abbas et al., 2000; Cavazzana-Calvo et al., 2000].
FIGURES & ILLUSTRATIONS
Numbering: Figures should be numbered in Arabic numerals based on the order in which they appear in the text. They should be referred to as "(Fig. 1)", "(Fig. 2)" etc. in the text with figure numbers in bold and in parentheses.
Format, Resolution, and Size: The following file formats can be accepted: PDF, TIFF, JPEG, GIF. Please bear in mind that illustrations must fit a single (height, 24 cm max.; width, 8.5 cm max) or double-column (height, 24 cm max.; width, 18 cm max.) width. Whenever possible, submit graphics that do not have to be reduced to fit the standard figure size. Use the best resolution available. Avoid textures and shadings giving a three-dimensional effect to the illustration. Symbols and lettering in the illustration should be of similar size. For line drawings, lines should be clear and sharp and should be of uniform density. Moreover, lines should be continuous without any breaks. Do not use lines thinner than 1 point. Preferred fonts are Times New Roman or Helvetica, font size should exceed 10 pt. Color figures should be provided in CMYK format, not RGB. Required resolution is at least 300 dpi.
Photographs: Submit high-contrast photographs that fit single or double-column width so that they will not have to be reduced when printed. Negatives are not acceptable.
Chemical Structures: Chemical structures must be prepared using ChemDraw (any version) and should be provided on separate pages. They must fit single or double-column width.
REVIEW PROCESS
All papers submitted for publication will be immediately subjected to editorial scrutiny and peer-review. Reviewing is always performed by at least two reviewers and at least one of them external to the Editorial Board. Written reviews are provided to authors. Every effort will be made to assess the papers quickly. The decision is usually transmitted to the corresponding author within 6 weeks from the date of submission.

Page Charges: The cost for the first published page of color figures is US$ 730; the second additional page will be for US$ 535, and each subsequent page for US$ 360.
- Color figures should be supplied in CMYK not RGB colors.
- Required resolution for online submission is 300 dpi. In case of hardcopy submission, please use the maximum resolution available. In case the figure(s) are of an inferior quality they will need to be improved either by the author or by the publisher on a charged basis.
Language Editing: Manuscripts submitted containing many English typographical errors will not be published. Authors from non-English language countries are advised to use the services of our professional language editing department prior to submitting their manuscript to the Journal. Please contact Bentham Publishing Services www.bentham.org/bps for a language editing quote at e-mail: bps@bentham.org stating the total number of words of the article to be edited.
Proofs:
Authors are sent page proofs. To avoid delays in publication, proofs should be checked immediately for typographical errors and returned within 48 hours. Authors will be charged for excessive changes made at the page proof stage.
Bentham Open Access: Accepted articles can be published online for an immediate free open access for all to view. Authors must pay for this service.
Reviewing and Promptness of Publication: The Guest Editor of the theme issue will be responsible to carefully evaluate the suitability of the manuscript for publication, and to make editorial changes if required. The Guest Editor has full freedom to forward the manuscript to the experts working in the field for evaluation. After the reviewing process, the Guest Editor shall forward the collection of manuscripts to the Editor-in-Chief for further consideration and publication. The Editor-in-Chief shall reserve the right to return manuscripts to the Guest Editor or to make relatively minor editorial changes as deemed appropriate.
Reprints: The corresponding author, at no cost, will be provided with a PDF file of the article electronically. The PDF file will be the watermarked version of the published article along with a disclaimer outlining the terms and conditions of use.
ETHICAL POLICY
Current Gene Therapy adheres and follows the World Association of Medical Jounals recommendations on publication ethics policies for medical journals (http://www.wame.org/pubethicrecom.htm).
COMPETING FINANCIAL INTERESTS
In order to make our readers aware that interpretation of published results may be biased due to vested interests, Current Gene Therapy asks that authors describe all sources of financial support for their research in the acknowledgement section and add the follwing statement if they have potential competing financial interests: "authors declare having potential competing financial interests", without need of specifying what type of competing financial interests exist. Competing financial interests include funding from and employment by organizations that may gain or lose financially through publication of the article, as well as personal financial interests, such as stocks and shares in companies that may gain or lose financially through publication of the article, consultation fees or other forms of remuneration from such companies/organizations, as well as patents or patent applications whose value may be affected by publication of the article. Otherwise, the following statement should appear in the acknowledgement section: "authors declare having no potential competing financial interests".
Copyright: It is a condition of publication that manuscripts submitted to this journal have not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted or published elsewhere. Plagiarism is strictly forbidden, and by submitting the article for publication the authors agree that the publishers have the legal right to take appropriate action against the authors, if plagiarism is discovered. By submitting a manuscript the authors agree that the copyright of their article is transferred to the publishers if and when the article is accepted for publication.
