There are no submission fees or page charges. Each paper should have a cover letter with contact information for the corresponding author and a brief statement of its significance. Authors may suggest an area editor to handle the review of an article. They may also submit a list of up to four suggested reviewers as well as four reviewers that they feel may not be appropriate or objective.
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. For initial submission, PDF or Postscript (preferred) files may be sent. DVI, Word and LateX files will also be accepted. Upon acceptance, electronic files should be submitted in Word or LateX. All electronic media must be labeled with the author name and title of the manuscript. One hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a manuscript transmittal form and a Taylor & Francis copyright form. Both forms can be found at the links above. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
Manuscripts must be submitted in English. All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more that 200 words. Each article should also include a list of five to ten keywords. Each author should provide a biography, including educational background, of approximately 100 words and must also include photographs of the authors. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text. All listed authors need to have approved the paper for submission. If portions of the paper were previously published in a conference, the submission should include the original conference paper with an explanation about what new material is in the submission. Articles may be surveys, critical reviews, or original research.
Illustrations
Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
- submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files
Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charge for the first color page is $900.00. The next three pages with color are $450.00. A custom quote will be provided for color art totaling more than 4 journal pages. Good-quality color prints should be provided, in their final size. Figures needing reduction or enlargement will be charged an additional 25 percent. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of any artwork deemed unacceptable.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.
References
All references should follow the IEEE format. References must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the text and once you label the source, the same number should be used in all subsequent references. Each reference number should be enclosed by square brackets on the text line with a space before the before the bracket. The names of all authors should be given in the reference list unless the number of authors is greater than six in which case you may use et al. after the name of the first author. Examples:
Book: [1] S.M. Hemmingsen, Soft Science. Saskatoon: University of Saskatchewan Press, 1997.
Journal: [1] G. Liu, K.Y. Lee, and H.F. Jordan, "TDM and TWDM de Bruijn networks and shufflentes for optical communications," IEEE Transactions on Computers, vol. 46, pp. 695-701, June 1997.
Reports: [1] K.E. Elliot and C.M. Greene, "A local adaptive protocol," Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, France, Tech. Rep. 916-1010-BB, 1997.
Additional reference examples and instructions can be found at www.ece.uiuc.edu/pubs/ref_guides/ieee.html.
Proofs
The corresponding author of each article will receive proofs to reveiw before publication. (S)he is required to coordinate approval of the proofs by all co-authors. Only factual and grammatical corrections can be made at this time. The authors will have two working days to return proof corrections.
Offprints
The corresponding author of each article will receive one complimentary issue. Offprints of individual articles as well as complete issues may be ordered during the proofs stage (an order form will be provided)
Special Issues
Special issue proposals should be submitted to the managing editors. They should outline the topic area, show the potential audience for the special issue, and describe a potential pool of authors.
Supplementary Files
Supplementary files to be available online may be submitted with your mansucript. Executable files are not permitted and if there are multiple files they should be supplied as a compressed ZIP file for downloading.
