Aims and Scope.
Soft Materials publishes original research papers, reviews, and in-depth tutorials.Topics include theoretical, simulational, and experimental studies, as well as techniques for the preparation, characterization, and analysis of a wide variety of soft matter systems. Soft Materials does not, however, publish articles that contain essentially only reference data for certain compounds or materials. Soft Materials welcomes submissions from all areas of soft-materials research, such as physics, chemistry, materials science, biology and engineering.

Submission of Manuscripts. Soft Materials receives all manuscript submissions electronically via its ScholarOne Manuscripts website, located at

ScholarOne Manuscripts allows for rapid submission of original and revised manuscripts, as well as facilitating the review process and internal communication between authors, editors, and reviewers via a webbased platform. Preparation of Manuscripts. All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words and a list of keywords should be included. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text in the abstract. Authors are strongle encourages to consult a previous issue of Soft Materials for layout and formatting of text, tables, figures, etc.
Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. As an author, you are required to secure permission if you want to reproduce any figure, table, or extract from the text of another source. This applies to direct reproduction as well as “derivative reproduction” (where you have created a new figure or table which derives substantially from a copyrighted source). All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
References. Please cite references in the text by number only enclosed in parentheses. At the end of the article, list the references in the order they appear in the text. Footnotes should be included in the list of references. Examples:

Illustrations. Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be digital files and should follow these guidelines:

Color Reproduction. Color art will be reproduced in color in the online publication at no additional cost to the author. Color illustrations will also be considered for print publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Please note that color reprints can only be ordered if print reproduction costs are paid. Print Rates: $900 for the first page of color; $450 per page for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than four pages of color. Art not supplied at a minimum of 300 dpi will not be considered for print. Please ensure that color figures and images submitted for publication will render clearly in a black and white version for print.
Proofs. Page proofs are sent to the designated author using Taylor & Francis’ EProof system. They must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt.
Complimentary Policy and Reprints. Authors for whom we receive a valid email address will be provided an opportunity to purchase reprints of individual articles, or copies of the complete print issue. These authors will also be given complimentary access to their final article on Taylor & Francis Online .
