About the journal

Routledge are very sorry to report the sad news of Professor Gopal Kanji's untimely death.
This is obviously a very sad time for all those who knew him and our thoughts and sympathies lie with his family.
Dr Jens Dahlgaard has now been appointed as incoming editor of Total Quality Management & Business Excellence from 2011. Please see the editorial board listing for more information.

Total Quality Management & Business Excellence is an international journal which sets out to stimulate thought and research in all aspects of total quality management and to provide a natural forum for discussion and dissemination of research results. The journal is designed to encourage interest in all matters relating to total quality management and is intended to appeal to both the academic and professional community working in this area.
Total Quality Management & Business Excellence is the culture of an organization committed to customer satisfaction through continuous improvement. This culture varies both from one country to another and between different industries, but has certain essential principles which can be implemented to secure greater market share, increased profits and reduced costs.
The journal provides up-to-date research, consultancy work and case studies right across the whole field including quality culture, quality strategy, quality systems, tools and techniques of total quality management and the implementation in both the manufacturing and service sectors. No topics relating to total quality management are excluded from consideration in order to develop business excellence.

Articles can be considered only if one complete copy of each manuscript is sent by mail to the above address. Articles should be typed on one side of the paper, double spaced, with ample margins, and bear the title of the contribution and name(s) of the author(s). The full postal and email address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence should also be included. All pages should be numbered. An abstract of 150-200 words should be included and no more than eight keywords. Footnotes to the text should be avoided wherever this is reasonably possible. Rejected manuscripts will not normally be returned to contributors unless a self-addressed envelope and sufficient stamps/international postal coupons have been sent. If your first language is not English, please ask a native English speaker to read through your article for sense before sending it for consideration.
Tables and Captions to Illustrations
Tables must be typed out on separate sheets and notincluded as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. Tables and figures should be numbered by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.
Figures
Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. If possible please also supply electronic copies of the figures on a floppy disk.
References
References should be indicated in the typescript by giving the author's name, with the year of publication in parentheses. If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. The references should be listed in full at the end of the paper in the following standard form:

Titles of journals should not be abbreviated.
Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the authors if there is sufficient time to do so. They should be corrected and returned to the publisher within 48 hours. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted. Dr Dahlgaard has received several awards, among others the Chinese Friendship Award in 1998 for his contribution to education and research in China, and the Lancaster Award by American Society for Quality (2005). Dr. Dahlgaard is one of the founders (1997) and chairman of the yearly QMOD conferences (Quality Management and Organisational Development) - one of the world's largest research conferences on Quality and Service Sciences (see: www.ch.lu.se/qmod).
