About the journal
Current Issues in Molecular Biology (CIMB) publishes high quality critical review papers, in English, in all areas of molecular biology, including plant and animal systems, human genetics, molecular microbiology, genomics, biomedicine, and biotechnology.
Reviews are selected on the basis of topicality, originality, objectivity, and relevance to a broad readership encompassing research scientists, biomedical scientists, and health professionals. All manuscripts undergo a strict peer-review process and are reviewed by a member of the editorial board and at least one other appropriate individual.
Instructions to Authors
Format and Style of Articles General Format:Manuscripts may be supplied as either:A correctly formatted PDF file with all fonts embedded. Figures and tables positioned in the document in the most appropriate location. Pages should be in two column format (each column 80 mm wide, 10 mm between columns). Page size should be 210 mm wide by 280 mm high with margins of 20 mm. Fonts should be sans serif (e.g. Arial) size 9 pt for text and headings, size 7 pt for figure legends, tables and footnotes. Article title should be 18 pt, bold, and should span both columns. For an example of style and layout please download a recent article from www.cimb.org or:A Word file with figures in separate files (tiff, PDF, jpeg, Photoshop, or Powerpoint format are acceptable for figures)
Headings: Headings should be at the left margin, lower case and in bold type. Sub-headings should be at the left margin, lower case and in italics. Sub-sub-headings should be at the left margin, lower case and in plain text (no bold or italics).
English: All manuscripts must be written in perfect English. Before you submit, please ensure that your manuscript is corrected by someone who speaks English as their first language.
Abstract: Each paper must include an abstract. Abstracts should be 100-200 words.
Reviews: Review articles should be sub-divided into the following sections: Abstract * Introduction * The main text of the paper * Acknowledgements * References
Mini-reviews: Mini-reviews should be 2-5 pages in length, should include an abstract, but should not be divided into introduction, results, discussion, and experimental procedures sections. Sub-sections specifying topic are permissible.
References: References should be cited in the text in parentheses in order of date, as follows (Sambrook et al., 1989; Fuller, 1999). The reference list should be in alphabetical order. Follow the style indicated:
Article in a journal:
Altschul, S.F., Gish, W., Miller, W., Myers, E.W., and Lipman, D.J. (1990). Basic local alignment search tool. J. Mol. Biol. 215, 403-410.
Chapter in a book:
Fuller, R. (1999). Probiotics for farm animals. In Probiotics: A Critical Review, G.W. Tannock, ed. (Wymondham, UK: Horizon Scientific Press), pp. 15-22.
An entire book:
Sambrook, J., Fritsch, E.F., and Maniatis, T. (1989). Molecular Cloning: A Laboratory Manual (New York: Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press).
Users of EndNote or Reference Manager should adopt the reference style of the journal "Cell" which is identical to ours.
It is the responsibility of the authors to obtain permission for personal communications and a letter of permission should be enclosed with the manuscript.
SubmissionCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology (CIMB) is a full Open Access Journal. This means that all articles are freely available online throughout the world, to read, download, copy, distribute, and use, without charge.
To provide open access, the cost of producing CIMB is met by charging an Article Processing Charge to the authors or research sponsors for each article published.

Under this license, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their article, but authors allow anyone to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy articles as long as the original authors and source are credited.
