Instructions to Authors
The International Journal of Cultural Studies welcomes high quality theoretical, empirical and historical research of all kinds that help the journal to fulfil its aims to provide a meeting place for international perspectives on cultural and media developments worldwide.
1. Peer review policy The International Journal of Cultural Studies adheres to a rigorous double-blind reviewing policy in which the identity of both the reviewer and author are always concealed from both parties. Decisions on manuscripts will be taken as rapidly as possible. Authors should expect to have reviewer’s comments within approximately 6-8 weeks. However, authors should be mindful that it may take some time to secure appropriate referees, and therefore that the total time between submission and decision may be extended. In general, Editors will seek advice from two or more expert reviewers about the scholarly content and presentation of submitted articles.
All manuscripts are reviewed initially by the Editors and only those papers that meet the editorial standards of the journal, and fit within the aims and scope of the journal, will be sent for outside review. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees. All manuscripts are reviewed as rapidly as possible, and an editorial decision is reached as soon as reviewers’ reports are received.

2. Article types
The International Journal of Cultural Studies publishes original research articles. The journal has a preference for papers that report on a specific research project, although theoretical papers are considered if grounded in specific evidence. The journal does not publish critical readings of single film or literary texts; but it does consider such readings if they are cross-media (e.g. comparing a title across film, print and online media forms) and culturally contextualised (e.g. assessing the production and reception of a text as well as its internal features).
