About the journal
An internationally renowned journal for dermatologists and scientists involved in clinical dermatology and skin biology
EJD publishes original articles on clinical dermatology, skin biology, immunology and cell biology. It also contains case reports and review articles offering readers a broader view of the available literature. With its new sections (Continuous Medical Education) and systematic use of colour graphics, EJD is one of the best international journals now available. EJD's policy is to bring together a large network of specialists from all over the world through a series of editorial offices in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the USA. The high quality of the European Journal of Dermatology has been recognized by Medline and the Current Contents. The online version of European Journal of Dermatology is now available, offering seven years of archives that can be accessed by pay per view or by subscription.
Instructions to Authors
The European Journal of Dermatology publishes original papers and reviews pertinent to skin diseases and the normal and abnormal functions of the skin.

Submission
Submission of an article is understood to imply that the article is original and unpublished and not being considered for publication elsewhere. The responsible author must ensure that the article has been seen and approved by all the other authors. Papers accepted for publication become the copyright of the Journal and will not be returned.
All articles will be subject to peer-review by one or more referees and authors are invited to propose 3 potential reviewers in their submission letter.
THREE COPIES of the manuscript together with three sets of any illustrations are to be submitted to any ONE of the Editorial offices. A diskette must be sent with the final version of the text.
Ethics
When reporting experiments on human subjects, indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional or regional) or with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975, as amended in 1983.
Organisation of manuscripts.
The entire manuscript (including tables, figure legends and references) should be typed double-spaced, on one side only of A4 (297 x 210 mm) paper, with margins of at least 3 cm all around. Every part of the manuscript should be numbered, beginning with the title page. Standard manuscripts should be organised as follows: title page, abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknow-ledgements, references, tables, legends for figures.
The Title page
This should contain (1) The full title, (2) Full name(s) of the author(s) (3) Complete postal address(es) of the affiliation(s) of the author(s), indicating the country in which the work was done. Include an address to which proofs and reprint requests should be mailed, telephone and fax numbers and an E-mail address.
The Abstract should consist of no more than 150 words. Abbreviations should not be used. Please provide about six key words, in alphabetical order, at the end of the abstract.
Materials and Methods should clearly and concisely describe all compounds and methods used. A brief note on the statistical methods used to evaluate the results should also be included. The briefest form should always be chosen for all data presented.
References should be numbered consecutively as they appear in the text. References concerning unpublished data and ?/SPAN>personal communications?/SPAN> should be cited parenthetically within the text. Abbreviate journal names according to the listing in Index Medicus. Examples:

Illustrations should be referred to in the text as "Fig." and be given arabic numbers. The back should be marked with the figure number, the title of the paper and an arrow indicating the top. The magnification should be indicated directly on the figure using a bar and including the corresponding measurement in the legend. Photographs and photomicrographs should be unmounted glossy prints and should not be retouched. Patients appearing in photographs should have their identity concealed or should give written consent to publication.
Diagrams and tables should be on separate sheets and should be drawn in black ink on white paper: Lines should be of sufficient thickness to withstand reduction.
All figures and diagrams must be accompanied by a legend. There should be as few tables as possible and these should include essential data only.
Units, symbols, abbreviations. Measurements should be in metric units (metre, kilogram, litre) or their decimal multiples. Temperature should be given in ?/SPAN>C. Abbreviations should be used sparingly and always given in full at the first mention.
Proof corrections are limited to typographical errors. One set of page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author who should return corrected proofs within two days of receipt. The order form for offprints will accompany the proofs and must be returned with the corrected proofs.
Letters to the editor will be published only if they concern previously published articles. All letters are subject to possible editing and abridgement.
Announcements . Brief announcements of scientific meetings will be published at the discretion of the Editor if space permits. Announcements must reach the editorial office 8 weeks before their anticipated publication.
Subscription charge . All corresponding authors will receive a one year's subscription to the EJD at the privileged rate of 150 euros or 180 US$. The authors of invited articles and "Letters to the editor" will not be required to take out this subscription. There is no charge when the corresponding author already subscribes personally to the journal. Please note, there is no processing fee and no charge for colour illustrations.
