About the journal
The Accademia dei Lincei (Lynx), founded in 1603, is the oldest academy dedicated to the study of humanities as well as physics, mathematics and the natural sciences in the world. Through the centuries, some of the most important scientists of their time have been among their members, including Galileo Galilei, Enrico Fermi and Vito Volterra.
After its merger with the Accademia Pontificia dei Nuovi Lincei, the academy began publishing in 1847 with the Atti dell'Accademia Pontificia dei Nuovi Lincei. In 1870 this society was divided into two separate academies, one of which published its transactions as Atti della Reale Accademia dei Lincei and under the name Atti della Reale Accademia dei Lincei, Transunti as of 1876. Continued in 1884 as Atti della Reale Accademia dei Lincei, Rendiconti and under the present name in 1990, the Rendiconti Lincei have been one of the best Italian journals ever since. Papers by the most outstanding Italian mathematicians such as Betti, Bianchi, Caccioppoli, Castelnuovo, Enriques, Levi-Civita, Picone, Tonelli, Volterra and, more recently, Andreotti, Fichera, De Giorgi, Segre, Severi and Stampacchia have been published.
The journal is dedicated to the publication of high-quality peer-reviewed surveys, research papers and preliminary announcements of important results from all fields of mathematics and its applications. Rendiconti Lincei - Matematica e Applicazioni is covered in: Mathematical Reviews (MR), Current Mathematical Publications (CMP), MathSciNet, Zentralblatt für Mathematik, Zentralblatt MATH Database, Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), CompuMath Citation Index (CMCI), Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences (CC/PC&ES), ISI Alerting Services, Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, Web of Science.
Instructions to Authors
Submission of manuscripts
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit their manuscripts, according to the instructions below, either directly to a member of the Advisory Committee who is an expert in the respective field or to:
Rendiconti Lincei - Matematica e Applicazioni Via della Lungara, 10 I-00165 ROMA (RM) ITALIA redazione@lincei.it
Only in exceptional cases should they be sent to the Editor-in-Chief. Articles may be submitted electronically, and also in hard copy by sending four clear copies, together with the original of any illustrations. Original illustrations will be returned to the authors only if requested. To ease review authors may also send two copies of their own unpublished work to which relevant reference is made in the paper submitted.
Authors may not submit papers that are under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Format of manuscript
The Journal strongly encourages authors to make available LaTex files for typesetting purposes. Upon final acceptance of your paper you will be asked to e-mail all source files and macros, together with postscript or pdf files, to the editorial office at redazione@lincei.it. Authors are advised to create their LaTex files in 'article' format with text width set to 125 mm and the page depth to 185 mm.
The title page should include the name, affiliation and address (together with e-mail address) of each author and a short abstract. The author to whom proofs should be sent should be marked as the corresponding author.
Footnotes should be avoided.
To avoid distortion from rescaling, figures must not be wider than 125 mm. They should be sent as EPS file (encapsulated postscript), or as fair copy on paper, suitable for direct photographic reproduction without major reduction.
All figures, tables, etc. should be numbered, with the insertion place clearly indicated.
References should be listed at the end of the manuscript in the form: authors' name initials followed by surnames, title of paper, journal title (abbreviated in accordance with Mathematical Reviews), volume number, year of publication in parentheses, and page numbers. For books, indicate also the publisher. The reference list should be arranged in alphabetical order. Items not cited in the text should not appear in the list.
Copyright and Offprints
It is a condition of publication in the Journal that authors assign copyright to the European Mathematical Society. This ensures that requests from third parties to reproduce articles are handled efficiently and consistently and will also allow the article to be as widely disseminated as possible. In assigning copyright, authors may use their own material in other, non-commercial publications provided that the Journal is properly acknowledged as the original place of publication.
Authors of papers published in the Journal will be entitled to 30 free offprints, to be shared between authors of joint papers. Extra copies of offprints may be purchased if ordered on the form sent to the corresponding author with the proofs.
