About the journal
The International Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research (MPR) publishes high standard original research of a technical, methodological, experimental and clinical nature, contributing to the theory, methodology, practice and evaluation of mental and behavioral disorders. The journal targets in particular detailed methodological and design papers from major national and international multicenter studies. There is a close working relationship with the US National Institute of Mental Health, the World Health Organization (WHO) Diagnostic Instruments Committees as well as several other European and international organizations.
MPR aims at the rapid publication of articles of highest methodological quality in such areas as epidemiology, biostatistics, generics, psychopharmacology, psychology and the neurosciences. Articles informing about innovative and critical methodological, statistical and clinical issues, including nosology can be submitted as regular papers and brief reports. Reviews are only occasionally accepted.
MPR seeks to monitor, discuss, influence and improve the standards of mental health and behavioral neuroscience research by providing a platform for rapid publication of outstanding contributions. As a quarterly journal MPR is a major source of information and ideas and is an important medium for students, clinicians and researchers in psychiatry, clinical psychology, epidemiology and the allied disciplines in the mental health field.

Intital Manuscript Submission. Original papers should be sent to the Editorial Manager, Sarah Forberger, by e-mail: ijmpr@psychologie.tu-dresden.de. From January 2008, paper manuscripts will no longer be accepted.
Authors must also supply:
a Copyright Transfer Agreement/Declaration of Interest Statement transferring copyright in the article from the author to the publisher and declaring any competing interests. Without this we are legally unable to publish the article. Submitted manuscripts should not have been previously published and should not be submitted for publication elsewhere while they are under consideration by Wiley. Submitted material will not be returned to the author unless specifically requested.
Manuscript style. Please write in English (UK). All submissions must follow the format below:
The title page must list the full title, short title and names and affiliations of all authors. Give the full address, including current e-mail address, telephone and fax, of the author who is to check the proofs (the corresponding author).
Include the name(s) of any sponsor(s) of the research contained in the paper, along with grant number(s). Please include details in an Acknowledgements section.
Articles should not exceed about 5000 words.
For articles, supply an unstructured abstract of up to 200 words, together with three to five keywords.
Acceptable file formats
Text . Manuscript should be submitted as one text file in either Word document (.doc) or RTF (.rtf). Do not submit your file as a PDF.
Tables. Should form an integral part of the text file. Tables submitted as photographs or graphics will be rejected and will delay the submission process.
Figures. You are required to send high-resolution grahics files. Micrographs (tone) should be supplied as TIFF (.tif) files; labelled micrographs (combination) or charts/graphs/diagrams (line) can be supplied as a TIFF or EPS (.eps) format. Figures for reviews must be sent separately and conform to the same standards as the Figures for publication. They should not be embedded into the text of your initial submission.
Reference style. References should be arranged alphabetically by author surname. Where reference is made to more than one work by the same author, published in the same year, identify each citation in the text as follows: (Collins, 1998a), (Collins, 1998b). Where multiple authors are listed in the reference, please cite in the text as ‘Maxwell et al. (1999)’. All references must be complete and accurate. Where possible the DOI for the reference should be included at the end of the reference. Online citations should include date of access. References should be listed in the following style:

Personal communications and unpublished data should not be listed in the reference section but should be given in full in the text.
Acknowledgements and disclosures. At the end of the Acknowledgements sections, there must be a statement of these interests or the following statement: "Competing interests: the authors have no competing interests."
Further information . Proofs will be sent to the author for checking. This stage is to be used only to correct errors that may have been introduced during the production process. Prompt return of the corrected proofs, preferably within two days of receipt, will minimise the risk of the paper being held over to a later issue.
