About the journal
The International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IJTLD) is the official publication of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (Union). It is distributed in over 165 countries world-wide to physicians, health workers, researchers, professors, students and decision-makers including public health centres, medical, university and pharmaceutical libraries, hospitals, clinics, foundations and institutions.
Published principally in English with French and Spanish summaries, selected articles are translated into French, and a Chinese version is distributed three times per year to 4000 colleagues in China. The first issue of the Russian version appeared in October 2003.
Plans are also underway for a version in Spanish.
The IJTLD is the reference for clinical research and epidemiological studies on tuberculosis. It is also the only peer-reviewed journal dedicated to lung health worldwide, including articles on TB/HIV and non-tuberculosis-related respiratory diseases such as asthma, acute respiratory infection, COPD, child lung health and the hazards of tobacco and pollution - all topics that reflect the wide scope of the activities of the Union and its members.
The International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease is owned and published by the Union. The Journal's main aim is the continuing education of physicians and other health personnel, and the dissemination of the most up-to-date information in the field of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases. It publishes original articles and commissioned reviews not only on the clinical and biological aspects of pneumology, but also - and more importantly - on community aspects. With its emphasis on lung health in developing countries, the Journal encourages submissions that incorporate a) fundamental research, b) the elaboration, implementation and assessment of field projects and c) action programmes for tuberculosis control and the promotion of lung health.
The International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease welcomes articles on all aspects of lung health, including public health related issues such as training programmes, cost-benefit analysis, legislation, epidemiology, intervention studies and health systems research.
