About the journal
The scope of the journal is to publish original contributions and reviews on studies, methodologies, instrumentation, and applications involving the analysis and characterization of polymers and polymeric-based materials, including synthetic polymers, blends, composites, fibers, coatings, supramolecular structures, polysaccharides, and biopolymers. The Journal will accept papers and review articles on the following topics and research areas involving fundamental and applied studies of polymer analysis and characterization:
- Characterization and analysis of new and existing polymers and polymeric-based materials.
- Design and evaluation of analytical instrumentation and physical testing equipment.
- Determination of molecular weight, size, conformation, branching, cross-linking, chemical structure, and sequence distribution.
- Using separation, spectroscopic, and scattering techniques.
- Surface characterization of polymeric materials.
- Measurement of solution and bulk properties and behavior of polymers.
- Studies involving structure-property-processing relationships, and polymer aging.
- Analysis of oligomeric materials.
- Analysis of polymer additives and decomposition products.
Abstracting Information:
The International Journal of Polymer Analysis and Characterization is currently abstracted/indexed in: SciSearch, ISI Alerting Services, Chemistry Citation Index, Materials Science Citation Index, and Polymer Library.
Instructions to Authors
Submission of Manuscripts
Manuscripts may be sent to the Editor-in-Chief: Howard G. Barth, DuPont Central Research & Development, Experimental Station, PO Box 80228, Wilmington, DE 19880-0228, USA. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authors' names, file name, and software program. A hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more that 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and references to the text.
Illustrations
Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality repro-duction and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
- submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.
References
Identify references in the text by arabic numerals in brackets, and number con-secutively in the Reference Section in order of their first mention. References follow Chicago Manual of Style and should include: names of all contributing authors (last names first); title of article; title of journal (abbreviated according to Chemical Abstracts) or book; volume number; location and name of publishing company (books only); inclusive pages; year of publication.

Proofs
The corresponding author will receive proofs, which should be proofread and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Corrections are limited to printer's errors-no substantial author's changes will be made.
Reprints
Reprints may be ordered using the reprint order form included with page proofs. A complimentary copy of the issue will be mailed to each author (up to three multiple authors).
