Journal of Tropical Meteorology Aim and Scope
Journal of Tropical Meteorology takes as its prime commitment the integration of theoretic and applied study in the field of tropical meteorology and the presentation of advanced techniques and successful experience of weather forecasting for the tropics, with particular reference to air-sea and mid- and low- latitude- interactions, low-frequency oscillations and teleconnections, low-latitude general circulation anomalies and governing mechanisms, effects of tropical general circulation on global weather and climate, monsoon dynamics and kinetics of tropical cyclones. Topics most frequently covered include the formation of climate and contributing factors, moisture, condensation and precipitation, winds, marine meteorology, climate categories, forecasting of important weather elements and phenomena, atmospheric dynamics, atmospheric temperature, numerical simulation, analysis of weather processes and tropical meteorology.
Information for Contributors
1. General Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts that have not been published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and will be requested to sign a statement transferring copyright where necessary. All manuscripts must be submitted in English. Manuscripts for publication should be submitted to the Editorial Office, 6, Fujin Road, Guangzhou 510080, P. R. China. 2. Manuscripts Manuscripts should be typed doubled-spaced on one side of white paper (A4 size) with wide margins, Good quality printouts are required. Authors should submit an electronic copy (A template is available when requested through e-mails to the Editorial Office). The manuscript should have an abstract and keywords, and it is recommended to proceed as follows: introduction, data and methods, results, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgements and references. The corresponding author should be identified with telephone and E-mail addresses. The SI system should be used for all scientific and laboratory data. 3. Mathematical symbols and expressions Mathematical symbols and expressions should be carefully inserted, with subscripts and superscripts clearly indicated. Authors should avoid ambiguities, for example, make distinction between “zero” and the letter “o”, the number “one” and the letter “l”, etc. Vectors should be indicated in bold. Equations should be numbered consecutively. Mathematical symbols will be set in italic except for log and sin. Please encircle in the text any symbols to be left in roman. 4. Figures and photographs All figures should be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text. Figures originally created in an electronic form should be supplied as electronic image files, as well as high quality hard copy originals. Illustration and photographs that are not originally produced electronically should be submitted as high quality hard copies that can be electronically scanned for optimal reproduction. 5. References References should be arranged alphabetically by the first author’s name with numbering. The text citation should consist of the author’s name and year of publication [e.g. “Zhang, 2001” or as shown by an earlier study (Zhang, 2001)]. When there are two or more papers by the same author in the same year, the distinguishing suffix (a, b, etc.) should be added. In listing references, each one must be complete and in the following form: For an article: author(s), title of article, title of journal (full name wherever available), year of publication, volume number with issue number in parentheses, inclusive pages. For a book: author(s), title of book, publisher, year of publication, pages. For a proceeding of seminar or workshop: author(s), title of paper, title of proceeding, place of seminar or workshop, publisher, year of publication, pages. For a doctoral thesis: author(s), title of thesis, place of college or research institution, publisher, year of publication. 6. Proofs and offprints Proofs will be sent to the first author, and should be corrected and returned within two weeks of receipt. The returned proofs are to be accompanied by the author’s response to any queries in proofs in all and every detail. For each paper, the first authors will receive one copy of the issue and 10 offprints free of charge after the paper has been published. 7. Inquiry about the manuscript status As all the manuscripts have to be peer-reviewed before they can be published in the journal, the Editorial Office advises the contributors to wait for three months for the result. When the period passes and they are still not informed about the status of their contributions, the authors may visit the home page of the journal (see back cover) and click on “稿约讯息”, “录用公告” and “待发表文稿”.
