About the journal
Trends in Biochemical Sciences (TiBS) is the leading monthly review journal in biochemistry (Impact factor 14.3; SCI Journals Citation Reports 2001). Every issue of Trends in Biochemical Sciences contains succinct articles on the most exciting recent developments in the fields of biophysics, microbiology, plant sciences and medical science. Trends in Biochemical Sciences has a prestigious Advisory Editorial Board that attests to the journal's established reputation as essential reading for all biochemists, molecular biologists and cell biologists, from students to professors. P>
Review articles published in Trends in Biochemical Sciences are lively, well-illustrated and have been thoroughly peer reviewed to ensure a balanced representation of the literature. This section also contains Historical Perspectives which provide an historical account of a particular field. Opinion articles follow trends and innovative ideas whilst the update section is designed to highlight recent advances in a particular research field providing insight on the implications of the new developments as well as future perspectives and directions. The Protein Sequence Motif section is for short original reports of novel motifs shared between sets of proteins. Letters of interest to readers are also published. Careful editing of all articles ensures accessibility to the non-specialist without compromising depth or quality for the specialist. Articles are usually invited; however, if you are interested in submitting a manuscript please send a one page summary with a list of key references of your proposed article to the editor. P>
Instructions to Authors
Articles for TiBS are generally invited, but ideas for Reviews and, in particular, Opinion features are welcome. Prospective authors should send a brief summary, citing key references, to the Staff Editor in London, or to a member of the Editorial Board. Guidelines on manuscript preparation will be forwarded if the proposal is accepted.
The submission of completed articles without prior consultation is strongly discouraged. As much of the journal content is planned in advance, such manuscripts may be rejected primarily because of lack of space.
Authors should note that all articles for TiBS are peer reviewed before acceptance and publication cannot be guaranteed.
As the leading review journal in biochemistry and molecular biology, TiBS enables researchers, teachers and their students to keep up with new and recent developments across this broad field.
Reviews form the foundation of each monthly issue. These articles, invited from leading researchers in a specific field, summarize and assess recent and important developments.
Research News are short articles that highlight recent research papers of particular interest, news, views and comment. The Opinion section is a forum for debate and hypothesis, and may include comment from appropriate person(s) alongside the original article. The Protein Sequence Motifs section is for short original reports of novel motifs shared between sets of proteins. The Historical Perspective articles provide an historical account (often personal) of a particular field.
