About the journal

Theory and Psychology fosters theoretical dialogue and innovation within psychology, focusing on the emergent themes at the centre of contemporary psychological debate. Published six times a year, it serves an integrative role for a wide psychological audience and all those concerned with the evolution of modern psychology.
"Theory and Psychology has brought the study of theory within psychology out of the cold. It is a hugely important journal for anyone with a serious interest in theoretcial developments in psychology. It is always packed with interesting and important articles and should be required reading for all psychologists."
Valerie Walkerdine, Professor of Psychology, School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University, UK
"Outstandingly good. Each issue makes one realise how much we need a
journal exactly like this, to argue over Psychology's many unresolved
confusions, mistakes and mysteries - and to plot the way out of them."
Charles Antaki, Professor of Language and Social Psychology, Loughborough University, England
"The founding of Theory & Psychology has created a distinguished forum for discussions of theory. It has already established itself as one of the leading psychology journals" - Rom Harr¨¨
"An indispensable resource for anyone interested in fundamental psychological issues" - Kurt Danziger
"On the cutting edge of criticism and theoretical psychology today. I eagerly await my copy to get a sense of where, and of what kind, the new living shoots of growth are" - John D. Shotter
Instructions to Authors
Theory & Psychology publishes exclusively in English. Papers must be original and not currently under review elsewhere. Normally articles are 5-8000 words, but may be as long as 10,000 words depending on the subject matter. Notes or comments should not exceed 2500 words. Papers should be typed double-spaced throughout on one side of A4 white paper. US or UK spelling may be used.
As the editors prefer to obtain anonymous reviews, the manuscript should include two title pages, one with identifying information and one with a title only. All identifying information should be excluded from the body of the text as well. Only manuscripts prepared in this fashion can be subject to blind reviews.
Because of the broad range of subject matter covered by the journal, authors are encouraged to supply the names of one or more potential referees. Doing so in no way guarantees that the editors will request reviews from these individuals, although such referees may be called upon in addition to those of the editors' choosing.
Theory & Psychology adheres to the publication style of the American Psychological Association. All manuscripts require an abstract of 100-150 words typed on a separate sheet of paper and about five key words.References cited should be presented in the text by author and date and be collated into a reference list at the end of the article with the following information: author(s), year of publication, title and publishing data. Authors are encouraged to consult the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (fourth edition) for details.
Authors should supply a short biography of 50-75 words, with a full mailing address, an electronic-mail address if applicable, and phone and fax numbers. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from copyright holders for reproducing any illustrations, tables, figures or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere.
Authors are sent proofs of their article, and 25 offprints of the published version, plus one copy of the journal on publication. Upon acceptance of their paper, authors are requested to provide a disk containing the final version of their paper.
Four copies of the manuscript should be submitted to: Henderikus J. Stam, Editor, Theory & Psychology, Department of Psychology, University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada T2N 1N4.
