Economics & Politics focuses on analytical political economy, broadly defined as the study of economic and political phenomena and policy in models that include political processes, institutions and markets. The journal is the source for innovative theoretical and empirical work on the intersection of politics and economics, at both domestic and international levels, and aims to promote new approaches on how these forces interact to affect political outcomes and policy choices, economic performance and societal welfare.

Instructions to Authors

  1. Manuscripts should be submitted online at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ecpo. Full instructions and support are available on the site and a user ID and password can be obtained on the first visit. Support can be contacted by phone ( 1 434 817 2040 ext. 167) Monday-Friday, or at http://mcv3support.custhelp.com. If you cannot submit online, please contact the Editor at the following email address:
    epjournal@nyu.edu. Papers for publication must be in English and must be no more than 45 pages of text.

    Submission of a paper will be held to imply that it contains original unpublished work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The first page of the manuscript should contain the following information:
    (i) the title;
    (ii) the name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s);
    (iii) an abstract of not more than 100 words;
    (iv) the date.

    A footnote on the same page should give the name and address of the author to whom proofs and the reprint order form should be sent.

  3. Acknowledgements and information on grants received can be given before the References or in a first footnote, which should not be included in the consecutive numbering of endnotes.

  4. Important formulae (displayed) should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript as (1), (2), etc. on the right-hand side of the page. Where the derivation of formulae has been abbreviated, it is of great help to referees if the full abbreviation of formulae can be presented on a separate sheet (not to be published).

  5. Notes should be kept to a minimum, and numbered consecutively throughout the text with superscript arabic numerals. Endnotes should be double-spaced and not include formulae.

  6. The References should include only the most relevant papers. In the text, references to publications should appear as follows: 'Smith (1969) reported that... ' or 'This problem has been a subject in literature before [e.g. Smith (1969, p. 102)]'. The author should make sure there is strict 'one-to-one correspondence' between the names (years) in the text and those on the list. At the end of the manuscript (after any appendices) the complete references should be listed as:

    For monographs
    Ehrenberg, A. S. C. , 1972, Repeat-buying. Theory and applications (North-Holland, Amsterdam) 33-35

    For contributions to collective works
    Glesjer, H. , 1970, Predictive world models, in: C. Duprez and E. S. Kirschen, eds. , Megistos, A world income and trade model for 1975 (North-Holland, Amsterdam) 3-16.

    For periodicals
    Goldfeld S. M. and R. E. Quandt, 1973, A Markov model for switching regressions. Journal of Econometrics 1, 3-15.

  7. References in Articles

    There are several software packages available to help authors manage and format the references and footnotes in their journal article. We recommend the use of a software tool such as EndNote or Reference Manager for reference management and formatting.

    EndNote reference styles can be searched for here:
    http://www.endnote.com/support/enstyles.asp

    Reference Manager reference styles can be searched for here:
    http://www.refman.com/support/rmstyles.asp

  8. All unessential tables, figures, and illustrations should be eliminated from the manuscript. Essential tables should be numbered consecutively in the text in arabic numerals and printed on separate sheets. Illustrations of insufficient quality which have to be redrawn by the publisher will be charged to the author.

    Any manuscript which does not conform to the above instructions will be returned for the necessary revision before publication. Page proofs will be sent to the authors. Corrections other than printer's errors may be charged to the author. An electronic offprint of the article is& supplied free: additional copies of the journal may be ordered when the proof is returned.

  9. License Agreements

    If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an email prompting them to login into Author Services; where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be able to complete the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.

    For authors signing the copyright transfer agreement

    If the OnlineOpen option is not selected the corresponding author will be presented with the copyright transfer agreement (CTA) to sign. The terms and conditions of the CTA can be previewed in the samples associated with the Copyright FAQs below:

  10. Online production tracking is now available for your article through Wiley-Blackwell’s Author Services.

    Author Services enables authors to track their article – once it has been accepted – through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production. The author will receive an e-mail with a unique link that enables them to register and have their article automatically added to the system. Please ensure that a complete e-mail address is provided when submitting the manuscript. Visit http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/ for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on article preparation, submission and more.

  11. Early View

    Economics & Politics is covered by Blackwell Publishing's Early View service. Early View articles are complete full-text articles published online in advance of their publication in a printed issue. Articles are therefore available as soon as they are ready, rather than having to wait for the next scheduled print issue. Early View articles are complete and final. They have been fully reviewed, revised and edited for publication, and the authors' final corrections have been incorporated. Because they are in final form, no changes can be made after online publication. The nature of Early View articles means that they do not yet have volume, issue or page numbers, so Early View articles cannot be cited in the traditional way. They are therefore given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows the article to be cited and tracked before it is allocated to an issue. After print publication, the DOI remains valid and can continue to be used to cite and access the article.
