About the journal
This journal will consider for publication original papers from all fields of endocrinology and diabetology; from molecular to clinical aspects. It will publish original papers, short communications and reviews.
The manuscripts must be typewritten (double-spaced) and should be submitted in triplicate (one original and two copies, including one original and two copies of tables and figures). Accepted manuscripts must also be submitted on computer disk (MS-DOS).
Instructions to Authors
Title PageShould include in the following order a short title (for page heading); title of paper; names of authors, their departments, clinics or institutes, universities, cities and countries; two to five keywords. The name and address of corresponding author follows the references.
StructureThe manuscript is to be subdivided into sections which should be headed summary (on a separate page), intro-duction, material and methods, results, discussion and references.
Acknowledgement(s) should follow the text.
TablesA separate sheet is to be used for each table which should be serially numbered at the top of the table with Arabic numerals and followed by a short legend. There should be a mark in the margin of the manuscript indicating where the table should be inserted.
FiguresLine drawings should be drawn in Indian ink on tracing paper. Computer graphics should be laser printed on good quality, white paper. Figures should be approximately twice the desired final size. Legends should be typed on separate pages. Each figure should be marked by an Arabic number with authors' names written on the back in pencil. There should be a mark in the margin of the manuscript indicating where the figure should be inserted. Photographs should be good quality black and white; colour photographs will only be accepted after permission has been granted by the Editor-in-Chief and if the authors are prepared to pay for the extra printing costs.
ReferencesCitations should be given as follows: (Brown and Jones, 1960) and for more than two authors (Brown et al., 1960). The reference list at the end of the paper should be in alphabetical order according to authors' surnames and all authors should be listed. Surnames should be followed by initials and "and" should not be used. Where possible, only the first letter of the title should be capitalized. The list must not be enumerated. References to journal articles: Surname(s) and initial(s) of author(s), full title of article, journal name according to the abbreviated form used in "Index Medicus", volume number, first and last page numbers, and year of publication. For example: Ota K, Yokoyama A: Resumption of lactation by suckling in lactating rats after removal of litters. J Endocrinol 33: 185-194, 1965. References to books: Names and title as described above, edition, page number(s), place of publishing, year of publication. For example: Lászl?FA, Janáky T: Clinical application of radio immunoassay. First Edition. p. 105, Akadémiai Kiad? Budapest, 1992. References to chapters in books: As for references to books described above, but with the addition of editor(s) and including both book and chapter titles. For example: Besedovsky HO, Del Rey A: Physiological implications of the immune-neuro-endocrine network. In: Ader R, Felten DL, Cohen N (eds.). Psychoneuroimmunology, Second Edition. pp. 589-608, Academic Press, New York, 1991. Please adhere to the usage of punctuation as illustrated in the above examples.
Short communications reporting valuable investigations derived from work in progress must not exceed four manuscript pages, including tables and references. These papers should follow the above instructions, but a maximum of two figures will be allowed.
Reviews are usually invited by the editor, but uninvited reviews will also be considered. All reviews will be refereed.
CopyrightSubmission of originals, short communications or reviews in English will be held to imply that they have not been published elsewhere in the same form either in the same or another language. A Copyright Transfer Agreement will be sent to the corresponding author upon acceptance of the manuscript. The agreement must be completed and returned to the editorial office before the manuscript can be published. If figures, tables or other small parts of articles or books already published elsewhere are included in a manuscript submitted to ECE, the written permission of the publisher concerned must be included with the manuscript. The original source must be indicated in the legend of the figure/table.
EnglishIt is in the authors' best interest that manuscripts be proof read by a native English speaker; manuscripts containing English language mistakes make a negative impression on the referees.
Computerized EditingWe encourage the submission of computer disks for all accepted manuscripts.
Galley Proofs
Only incorrectly set text will be corrected at the publisher's expense; expenses incurred due to corrections beyond this limit will be billed to the author.
