Instructions to Authors

The Journal of Interventional Cardiology seeks communications dealing with cardiac catheterization, angiography, angioplasty, percutaneous management of structural heart disease, mechanical assist devices, thrombolytic therapy, hemodynamic monitoring techniques, and evolving technologies such as lasers, mechanical atherectomy, and implantable devices. It will accommodate original, review, and didactic articles directed to a readership of a variety of interests. Manuscripts submitted to this journal must not be under simultaneous consideration by any other publication and should not have been published elsewhere in substantially similar form. No part of a paper which has been published by The Journal of Interventional Cardiology may be reproduced or published elsewhere without the written permission of the author(s) and the Publisher. We recommend that all manuscripts be submitted online at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/joic. Editorial communications should be sent to: Cindy L. Grines, M.D., Editor-in-Chief, William Beaumont Hospital, 3601 W. Thirteen Mile Road, Royal Oak, MI 48073; e-mail: admin@jicjournal.com Subscription requests, reprint orders, and other business communications should be sent to: Blackwell Futura Publishing, Inc., 350 Main Street, Malden, MA 02148 USA.

Online Manuscript Submission
Authors with internet connections should submit manuscripts, including figures and tables, to the JIC submission website, http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/joic. Loading instructions are given at this site. For assistance, please contact Scholar One technical support at 434-817-2040, ext. 167 or email support@scholarone.com. If you are not able to submit online, please contact the Editorial Office for instructions. The manuscript should be submitted in the following order: Title Page, Abstract, Keywords, Text, References, Tables, Legends, and Figures. Each page, beginning with the abstract, should also include the senior author's surname typed on the upper, left-hand corner. Manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter as well as a signed Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) form. Please note that manuscripts not prepared according to JIC instructions will be returned to the author(s). Papers are considered for publication only after peer review. Please note that if a manuscript is resubmitted with revises, the author must track the changes in the electronic document or highlight the areas where the changes have been made. Once a manuscript is accepted and editorial changes are made, the editor's decision concerning English usage will prevail. The author should not make any changes in the proofs except for corrections of editorial errors, if any, and/or correction of typesetter's errors.

Please note that Word 2007 is not yet compatible with journal production systems. Unfortunately, the journal cannot accept Microsoft Word 2007 documents until such time as a stable production version is released. Please use Word's 'Save As' option therefore to save your document as an older (.doc) file type.

Figures

There are three preferred formats for digital artwork submission: Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), Portable Document Format (PDF), and Tagged Image Format (TIFF). We suggest that line art be saved as EPS files. Alternately, these may be saved as PDF files at 600 dots per inch (dpi) or better at final size. Tone art, or photographic images, should be saved as TIFF files with a resolution of 300 dpi at final size. For combination figures, or artwork that contains both photographs and labeling, we recommend saving figures as EPS files, or as PDF files with a resolution of 600 dpi or better at final size. More detailed information on the submission of electronic artwork can be found at www.blackwellpublishing.com/authors/digill.asp

- Submit written permission from the senior author and publisher(s) for any figure which has been published previously.
- Any lettering or scale of measurement used in an illustration must be large enough to be legible in the event of half-size reduction.
- Do not sent original artwork, X-rays, or ECGs.
- Photographs in which a patient or other person is identifiable must have written permission from that person. The consent must state specifically what the person is consenting to and what restrictions, if any, the person has placed upon the publication of the photograph. All restrictions must be strictly observed.
- Special arrangements for color illustrations must be made with the publisher at a cost of $850 (U.S.) per page (one side). Reprint orders for
articles with color illustrations must be returned with the corrected page proofs. Please contact publisher should you require detailed information for preparing digital art.

Style Manuals
The following two books are recommended as guides in writing scientific papers; they are useful in providing standard abbreviations for measurements and other scientific terms: CBE Style Manual, prepared by the Committee on Form and Style of the Council of Biology Editors,
published by the American Institute of Biological Sciences, Arlington, Virginia, 1978.

Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, prepared by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors,
published in N Engl J Med 1997; 336:309-315 and Ann Intern Med 1997; 126:36-47.

The following book is a general, non-scientific style manual: The Elements of Style, Strunk W, Jr. and White EB. Macmillan Publishing Co., Inc., New York, 1972.

Even though manuscripts are peer-reviewed, the author is responsible for all material presented in a paper. The journal disclaims all responsibility for such material. No product or service advertised in this publications is guaranteed or warranted either by the Editors or publisher. Neither the editors nor publisher guarantee any claims made by a manufacturer or an author in regard to a product or service. If a trademark item is named, the name(s) and address(es) of the manufacturer(s) or supplier(s), in addition to the generic name, should be footnoted.

Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA)
Authors will be required to sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) form. The CTA will allow the publisher to publish the article in print and online, to administer rights, and to follow up on any infringements of copyright. Manuscripts will not be sent to the publisher for production until a CTA form has been signed and submitted. Please submit a completed, signed Copyright Transfer Agreement form when submitting an article for publication. The CTA can be found by clicking on the link www.wiley.com/go/ctaaus.
