Biomedical and Environmental Sciences (BES) is an international English scientific periodical jointly established by Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the Coulston International Corporation (CIC), USA in 1988, which is published bimonthly and distributed both in China and abroad. The editorial office is based in the headquarters of China CDC.
BES publishes research papers submitted from China and other countries in the areas of biomedical and environmental sciences, which cover public health virology, microbiology, epidemiology, parasitology, nutrition, toxicology, pharmacology, environmental health, chemistry, biological and toxicological effects of hazardous substances including environmental pollutants, food additives, pesticides and industrial chemicals as well as methodological research, including chemical, biochemical, pathological and immunological methods. Experimental studies on natural and synthetic pollutants of the distribution, metabolic characteristics, and their impact on human health are also included. Research on preventive medicine and public health are also welcomed.
Our Journal has joined the famous researching system, such as SCI, CA etc. We also got the sustentation fund of National Natural Foundation of China in 1999.
To meet the needs of national information development and widen authors academic exchange channel, we declare that the journal, Biomedical and Environmental Sciences, has joined the Net. (三)稿件写作要求
1文稿
论点明确,资料可靠。文字精炼,层次清楚,数据准确,必要时应做统计学处理。
2文题
力求简明、醒目,反映出文章的主题。标题Arial字体,小四号字,黑体,实词首字母大写。文题一般不宜超过10~12个实词, 不用生僻的外文缩略语。稿件如有资金资助,请在标题末尾标记*,并在首页脚注处标注出具体的资金项目名称和编号。最好不用副标题。
3作者
作者姓名在文题下按序排列,Times New Roman字体,10号字。姓在前,全部大写,名字在后首字母大写,两字名,字间空英文1字节;通讯作者用#上标;作者单位用阿拉伯数字上标。
4作者单位
Times New Roman字体,小五号字,斜体。非直辖市请注意书写省份,邮编应放在城市名后,之后书写省,国家名称,不同单位名称之间用分号(;)隔开。例如1.Henan University of Science & Technology, Luoyang 471003, Henan, China;2. Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450001, Henan, China
列单位时,不必列出城市的区、街道、门牌号。
5摘要
Calibri字体,10号字。文摘格式采用结构式文摘,分“Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion”四个部分,单词数不超过240个为宜。Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion这些单词字体加黑,顶格书写,空英文2字节后接排。
6关键词
Calibri字体,10号字。需标引3~8个关键词。请尽量使用美国国立医学图书馆编辑的最新版《Index Medicus》中医学主题词表(MeSH)内所列的词。必要时可采用自由词并排列于最后。各关键词间用分号(;)分隔。关键词第1个字母大写。
7脚注
资金项目需列出名称和编号。通讯作者需列出“职称、学历,电话,邮箱”等,不必再列出单位;第一作者需列出“性别、出生年、学历、职称、主要研究方向”等内容。
8正文
对于Original Article,使用Calibri字体,10号。一级标题,字母全部大写、粗体、居中;二级标题:斜体,加粗居左,首字母大写,单独占一行;三级标题:居左,斜体,实词首字母大写,加粗,不单独占一行,空英文4字节后与正文接排;四级标题:居左,起始空四格,正体,段首字母大写,加粗,标题后再空英文4字节后与正文接排。
稿件需要编行号,以利同行评议和稿件加工过程中准确指出问题。

10统计学符号
11数字
执行GB/T 15835-1995《关于出版物上数字用法的规定》。公历世纪、年代、年、月、日、时刻和计数、计量均用阿拉伯数字。小数点前或后超过3位数字时,每三位数字一节,节间空英文1字节,如“1,329.476,5”应写成“1 329.476 5”。但序数词和年份、页数、部队番号、仪表型号、标准号不分节。百分数的范围和偏差,前一个数的百分符号不能省略,如:5%~95%不要写成5~95%,而百分数公差其中心值与公差用圆括号括起,其后写“%”,如(65±2)%,不得写作“65±2%”,宜写作“65%±2%”。附有长度单位的数值相乘,按下列方式书写:4 cm×3 cm×5 cm,而不能写成4×3×5 cm3。
12医学名词
以1989年及其以后由全国自然科学名词审定委员会审定、公布,科学出版社出版的《医学名词》为准,暂未公布者仍以人民卫生出版社编的《英汉医学词汇》为准。生物属种、基因、内切酶前三个字母等均用斜体。
13缩略语
文中尽量少用。必须使用时于首次出现处先叙述其全称,然后括号注出缩略语,如该缩略语已公知,也可不注出其英文全称。缩略语不得转行。
14参考文献
Calibri字体,8号。参考文献按作者,文献标题,文献来源(杂志名称),出版年份,卷(期),页码的顺序排列。请注意,文献来源后用“,”,出版年份后用“;”,卷(期)后用“,”,请在标点符号后空英文1字节。如果文献是中文文献,请在页码后,标以(In Chinese)。列出前三位作者,未列完加et al.;期刊名用规范的缩写,不用全称。正文中参考文献标示法:数字加中括号并上标。请按以下参考文献书写:

Prof. Chunming CHEN
Prof. Chunming CHEN started the publication of Biomedical and Environmental Sciences in 1988.
Professor Chunming CHEN was trained and graduated as B.S. on Nutritional Sciences in the Department of Agricultural Chemistry of National Central University of China in 1947. She has been working on nutrition research since then, and has been engaged in research on rickets, vitamin D assay, and nationwide nutrition surveys. She has been focused on Population Nutrition and Nutrition Policy studies since 1982, and designed the current National Nutrition Surveillance System in China. Based on it, she edited the book . Obesity and iron fortification are the key issues to be addressed under her leadership. She is involved in the nutrition policy research
Professor CHEN has been the Director-General of the Department of Health and Epidemic Prevention of the Ministry of Health of China during 1982-1984 and as the founding President of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine (Now the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention) during 1983-1992. She has been deeply involved in public health activities in China.
As a member of the WHO Expert Panel on Nutrition during 1979-2002 and widely involved in nutrition studies in China, she has been actively participating international nutrition activities. She was elected as the Vice Chairperson of the FAO/WHO International Conference on Nutrition held in 1992. The Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations awarded her the in 1992. She has been the director of the International Life Science Institute (ILSI) Focal Point in China since its establishment in 1993 till January 2004, which is working on scientific information for addressing nutrition and food safety issues in China. She was nominated as the Fellow of International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) in 1997, and awarded Gopalan Award by the Nutrition Society of India at the 9th Asian Congress on Nutrition in 2003.
Professor Chunming CHEN is a board member of GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition) started in 2002. She has been a member of the Reference Group for WHO Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health for NCD Prevention.

Dr. Junshi CHEN
Dr. Junshi CHEN was graduated from the Beijing Medical College in 1956 and engaged in nutrition and food safety research for more than 40 years at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (the former Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine), Beijing.
He has conducted large epidemiologic studies on diet, nutrition and chronic diseases, in collaboration with Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Cornell University and Prof. Richard PETO, University of Oxford since 1983. From late 1980's, he conducted a series of studies on the protective effects of tea on cancer, including laboratory study and human intervention trials. He is the member of the expert panel who wrote the WCRF/AICR report “Food, Nutrition and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective” (1997). He currently serves as member of several advisory bodies to the Ministry of Health, including cancer, diabetes and food safety. Internationally, he serves as the member of JECFA (FAO/WHO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives), deputy-director of ILSI (International Life Sciences Institute) Focal Point in China and adjunct professor of the Division of Nutritional Sciences, Cornell University, USA.
Dr. CHEN's research interests focus on nutrition epidemiology studies in the following areas:
(1) Relationship between diet, nutrition and non-communicable diseases in different geographical areas and population groups in China.
(2) The use of food frequency method in nutrition epidemiologic studies.
(3) Studies on the protective effect of edible plant (tea, vegetables, fruits, etc.) components on cancer formation with special emphasis on biomarkers and human intervention trial.
Dr. Chen has published more than 120 articles in peer reviewed journals.
